Oxford Road area is the best option for a drink bearing in mind the venue. Shambles square is fine for the Arena but miles from the Apollo.

Is it a really long hike? When I last did it it didn't seem too far, mind I was kali'd so there is a slight chance that my memory could be playing tricks
I only ask as i had a really good time there and fancy quaffing a few more there before heading to gig.

It is a good couple of miles i'd say, your walking from one end of town to the other really. Oxford Road is not a bad place for a drink, studenty type area but lots of good pubs
