Reunnion tour to Farewell tour

Post Fri Nov 26, 2010 5:08 pm

I was just trying to think of each concert I have attended since the reunnions started in 2001 or was it 2002? The first I went to was the original reunnion tour at the Apollo and ive been to Manchester every year since but they have kind of blended into one. Am I right in saying there was a year off somewhere? What was the year the old GMex was the venue? (for me that was best) and what the year that Shane did the Sally Mac remix at MEN? Happy Happy memories :D

Ah! Happy memories indeed. I, too, have done all the Manchester gigs since the 2001 reunion (and all the ones before too).

GMex or Manchester Central as it was by then (15th Dec 2006) was my favourite of the Manchester reunion shows too. It was the all time third best Manchester gig after Slosky's (28th May 1986) and the Carousel (15th Dec 1986) imho. I think there was a grim year without a show but I can't recall which. Until 2009 (the Apollo) all the other reunion shows bar 1996 have been at the MEN.

Shane's done a few remixes / extended versions over the years......and I remember them all fondly and vaguely.

Think possibly Manchester Central may have been 15th dec 2007 u know (possibly) as I seem to recall us going to the MEN on 16th December 2006. I only remember because Liverpool played Charlton away the lunchtime and I purposely didnt have a drink watching it in some stupid attempt to stay sober for the gig. I had my first pint at three o clock with my old man and by the time we got to the MEN I was more drunk than any other time ive been there. We where in seats and I ended up collapsing on an unsuspecting couple (twice). On the way home all I could talk about was that Shane had sung Kitty. Bizarely enough Liverpool won three nil which was/is (delete were applicable) rare in its self

Have to say Manchester Central was my highlight and there was one at MEN were Shane wasnt on his best form so to speak but belted out Kitty (for the first time since reforming) and was just brilliant. Anyone else?

After the 2001 reunion, wasn't there a break of a couple of years before the re-reunion in 2004? That's what I sort of think I remember. Though my memory may have got blurgled. And it is Monday morning.
Likes the warm feeling but is tired of all the dehydration.

Correct. All we did in 2002 was the Fleadh, I think.

There were no Pogues gigs in 2003. But Shane did play with the Popes and did a one off gig with the Hellfire Club on Irish TV.
