Yankees Owner

George Steinbrenner, owner of the Evil Empire, New York Yankees. Never a dull moment back in the early days of his ownership, his hirings/firings of Billy Martin and my favorite, comparing Dave Winfield to Reggie Jackson "Reggie is Mr. October, Winfield is Mr. May"

Lincoln Barrington Minott R.I.P.

I used to spin a few Sugar Minot discs back in my College Radio days. I just read his wiki page and found it interesting that back in the early '70s he collaborated with Tony Tuff who I still listen to frequently. Minott also worked with legendary producer Clement "Coxsone" Dodd at Studio One (of course it seems just about everyone did). RIP Sugar.

Fred Carter, Jr., the Nashville-based musician whose distinctive guitar was heard on recordings by several of the most influential and popular country and pop artists of all time, died Saturday, July 17. He was 76 years old.

Among the most well-known songs on which he can be heard are Marty Robbins' 'El Paso,' Bob Dylan's 'Lay Lady Lay' and Simon and Garfunkel's 'The Boxer.' He also worked with rockers Roy Orbison, Ronnie Hawkins and Dale Hawkins, and also with pop star Conway Twitty before Conway made the move to country music.

Carter also played with the legendary rock group the Band for a time and produced albums for that group's Levon Helm.

Alex Higgins passed away today after a long battle with throat cancer. The most naturally gifted player snooker has ever had in my opinion. God rest his soul, R.I.P. Alex... :(

The at least nineteen people who died at this year's Love Parade in Duisburg. Hell, who had the bloody idea to start such an event at a venue with only o n e entrance and exit and this entrance being a fucking tunnel.

It's just unbelievable. And that professor who did the security concept and the other officials who blame the audience... Whoa... I'm angry. This is so sad.

Oakland Raider Jack "They call me Assassin" Tatum. Pretty much reviled here in New England for his hit that paralyzed Daryl Stingley.

There was a thread once. Looks like it fell out of the system from lack of activity.

So long, Ted "Series of Toobes, Bridge to Nowhere" Stevens.
