What I have written of draft one, so far, is a minute and a half longer than anticipated, which means more editing at the end of the day.

Oh well, never mind.

what is it about?

If I told you, or anyone else here that, none of you would go and see it (that is if it ever gets accepted by my first choice theatre, the Liverpool Playhouse, or any other theatre for that matter).

Took the girls ice fishing with a friend I have known for 35 years. While sitting on the ice talking we discovered that his grandfather was the brother of my great grandmother. We never knew we were related. 8)

Today (oh, ok, yesterday) I learned that a head gasket blowing in a car engine can be quite spectacular.

Clash, you are 2nd cousins, once removed. Your friend's children and you would be 3rd cousins.
Congratulations on your cousininess!

Today, well this week actually, I've learned never to trust car mechanics, even if you've been taking your car to them for years and had no problems with them previously.

I had my brakes done three weeks ago at the same garage I took my car to for it's MOT on Saturday, and guess what it failed on? Brakes (amongst other things). So I've had to pay the same garage twice to get my brakes done. Not amused.

I also learned this Heather. We have a totally independent organisation doing testing only. I now just bring the car for it's test having only checked the obvious stuff (tyres, fluids, lights etc.). If (or when) it fails the NCT (National Car Test) the centre gives me a detailed report of the problems. I then bring this to my garage, they fix them and it passes on next inspection. Cheaper to get it re-tested than get a garage to do a "Pre Test" when they charge you labour time for checking all the stuff the lads in the test centre are going to check anyway.

Very frustrating for you.

Today I learned that when your computer tells you that the batteries in your whizzy new wireless mouse could die at any minute and lose connection, it may actually be telling the truth. So you probably should do something about it. And the cruddy old batteries that you take out of the video remote to try to replace the ones in the mouse probably won't work. Damn.

Today I learned that I am lucky not to be dead.

I hadn't thought about this until clarky made an observation about Spider being lucky not to be dead. This made me think about it. I had previously thought I was lucky to be alive. I've now realised that this was wrong and it's the not being dead that I am lucky to be. I think my whole outlook on life may have shifted.

When I learn something new, I feel like I've lived a whole day, so if I learned five things today, then today I lived five days.

FH - I do hope you weren't talking about my website...I've only one picture

Oh, that seems so long ago that I just had to check back to remember what that particular bit of irritation/learning was about. Nah, bookish, 'twasn't yours (not sure I've ever been there, actually...). 'Twas a ridiculously annoying writer I was trying to commission, whose website was filled with photos labelled "Me with..." (when I say "me", I mean said writer, not me. Obviously). It should have set off many a warning bell with me. I suspect the whole tedious saga still has some way to run.

Today I learned that when a manager says "We should do that", the manager usually means "You should do that." Actually I think I learned that before.
