I wouldn't say pissing myself...but a little chuckle would be understandable, wouldn't it?

Fair play to you both.

A friend of mine who couldn't make the gig was delighted it was cancelled. She said she'd rather it didn't happen at all, than it go ahead and her not be able to make it. I'd have felt the same, so i know where you're coming from.

I wonder when they'll tour again? Maybe interest is waning from some quarters and they have an agreement that it's all in together or nothing at all. I hope not. :(

Fuck it anyway. :(

There's nothing to indicate this. Sounds as if the band were up for Paddy's night but the logistics just didn't work out.

Kitty.............? Who's that hiding in the shadows?...........Here Kitty Kitty..........

What about Spider being quoted as saying (and i paraphrase)"I'm on a break from The Pogues, enjoy 2010"?

I´m also disappointed about this but you can think of his words as: hey.. I´m on a holiday now but you got something waiting for you in 2010 that you will enjoy. Don´t think Philip would mention this unless it was going to happen. I do see your point about Spider´s comment, he wasn´t too happy after New Orleans.

I'm under the impression that The Pogues have very little to do with selecting a venue. Is it not up to a promoter to put together a show and hope The Pogues are available at a price everyone can live with?

I can live with the fact that I have seen them 5 times in the past 4 years. I'm happy and grateful for the opportunity and am not at all upset about no tour this year. Fortunate I got to go when I did. 8)

We're still really disappointed here, but that's what it does sound like. Though it's a shame that only the one venue seems to have been thought possible, when a number of other major London venues appear to be free on the night... last I looked Shepherds Bush Empire, HMV Forum, the Roundhouse, and even Brixton Academy had no acts listed for 17th March.

Cambridge Corn Exchange is booked for 17th, but it's free the night before. Long long time since The Pogues played there...

No drama. We're just taking a bit of a rest. And at the moment we have no plans at all. When we do have some I'll mention them.

Get well soon Fatbloke whoever you are.A pity that the Pogues are taking a break, but its a well earned break, but i do not want to wait 5 years ,especially when i only need 2 more gigs for the double ton.Still i can watch VILLA v the Salford Reds in the Will Carlingus Cup final, not to mention tonights dress rehearsal which i will be watching from a bar somewhere in Amsterdam, hopefully Waynetta Slob will get done by Dunne.Albeit fairly ,i would no way shape or form condone violence,Richard Dunne is,i think above all that, though i bet Man City fans wish that they stll had him.Greetings to you Spider see you later in the year.
