Wow , back in at 31 . Thats with out any record company plug or ads .Is there anyone out there that does not already own at least one copy ?
Never siezes to amaze me how it can keep on selling. As a "new entry " selling more than Lily Allen ! Have to admit most of the chart list is beyond crap .

My impression is that it continues to chart on the number of downloads achieved alone, though I'm sure there are still a good few of us luddites left who like to have the actual thing to hold.

Maybe I'm showing age here but you have to be able to handle (touch) the music too. I hate DL's

Apparently there are multiple Pogues songs in the movie, so even though I never would have checked it out in a million years before, it has just been upgraded to the status of "movie to rent when we absolutely can't find anything else in the video store."

Fuck that, Pogues could make a cameo an i still wouldnt watch it!....ok, maybe then i might! :)

But the beauty of the artwork, the design of the sleeve notes or whatever they're called on a cd, and the pure tactile pleasure of having the thing in your hand... it's not the same in a self-burnt thing, is it? Oh the artefact. And how I miss vinyl.

Yes, and in fact the 2004 (or was it 2005?) issue of FoNY did come in a vinyl format too, probably still available from Amazon.

Now, if only we could persuade Warners to consider 78rpm and cylinder releases....................

2005. It's here in my hand as I type (one-handed).

One of my earliest childhood memories is watching a great-uncle putting wax cylinders into the machine and winding the thing up. That may well be where the obsession started, thinking about it.

I heard it (Fairytale) twice today.

I phoned an insurance company in work and they had it on as hold music! I was pleasantly surprised, must admit it was the first time I've ever enjoyed listening to hold music. :) Unfortunately it was followed by that driving home for Chrismas song, whatever it's called. :|

The second time I heard it, it was playing on the radio in the bakery in Tescos, Old Swan as I was doing my shopping tonight. I stopped by the fresh cakes and cookies to listen, but some stupid fat woman decided she wanted to lust over the cookies so I had to move.

Anyway, looking forward to hearing it live tomorrow night. :D

I REALLY hate that song. It's the only one i turn off the radio for when it comes on. I can't think though why it repulses me so much.

Hearn the tail end of FONY on the radio the other day, but still haven't heard the complete song on the airway. I have heard it sung live though, twice today. Went into the centre of Norwich and a band of buskers were singing it then in another spot a solo busker was singing it. Can't wait for Brixton on the 19th!
