philipchevron wrote:Mr or Ms Anon heard from again. Nice to see you still have the courage of your convictions sir/ma'am. Why the bitching now? You got your way, Oirish left. The bullying of him had nothing to do with his capacity to follow his dreams and everything to do with people's fear of anybody who presents themselves "differently" from the mob.

Philip this post was from me and the reason for "anon" was forgetting my password.
However i stand by my comments, many people felt insulted with his written word and felt that it was a piss take, when challenged he always reverted to insults or completely ignored the request to clearly explain himself. Me and many others have tried to accept him over the years and have struggled, however i have persisted and offered apologies and sent PM's, he ignores everything.
Your reference to "you got your way, Oirish left" is simply not true, i honestly do not care if he goes or stays and have said on many occasion that i hope he fulfills his dream. The problem for me is that Oirish will not accept the reality, he thinks that when he gets to Dublin everyone will welcome him with open arms like a long lost relative, he dreams of walking on "Raglan Road" and on every street corner there will be a busker called, Ronnie, Luke or Shane........ i could go on, but why bother, there is 187 pages of this shit.
For me i think it is near the end, the "old names" from the forum, just like the singer, have started to go awol, maybe forever, never to return.

I missed the start of the kerfuffle (sic), was he a victim of actual (cyber) bullying (with hateful Pm's) or the victim self-inflicted backlash ?

What a lousy saga this is turning out to be. I certainly hope for the best, but I am definitely fearful of the how this thing will end. If we ever really find out.

I have not been as frequent a visitor nor poster to the Medusa Fora as I once was.

I want to say that I rather enjoyed the challenge of reading Oirish's posts. I have not kept up on his saga of late and have neither the time nor inclination to read pages and pages of posts to understand what has happened to arrive at this apparent disappearance of him from our midst. I have read enough to be disappointed in and disgusted at some of the language and name-calling all around. While some of Oirish's remarks are really inexcusable, so too are those of many towards him. Jenny and Philip, your point about bullying is well-taken.

does no-one else think that this whole thing was somebody taking the absolute piss, and that he/she is sitting back having a right old laugh at everybody on here?

If I'm wrong then I'll hold my hands up and apologise but I've had suspicions for a while. I know a lot of people on here think a hell of a lot of you but do you really speak for everyone?
Oh, merry christmas to you as well

Niall I hope your taking a piss, or I have a huge problem with you coming on a fan site and speaking to one of the bands members that way and thinking you can just getting away with it. By your statement are we to assume you don't think much of Mr C? If that's the case why are you here? Just to stir some shit about Oirish? Kick a man a little more when he's down? I'm worried about Irish as well since his last conversation with me and subsequent deleting his FB account.
Your quickness to attack even Mr C for a humorous quip at your expense shows just how tolerant YOU are. Now I think you owe 2 appologies.

Let me rephrase then, Niall. While it is probably not strictly correct to say that NO ONE else thinks, as you do, that Oirish was an elaborate pisstaker now enjoying the joke at everybody's expense, I do feel quite secure in my conviction that less than a half dozen of your fellow Medusans held Oirish in so misanthropic a light as yourself and that of those who did, only a minority were unable to get past his quirks to adopt a position of live and let live. Indeed, the question might well be asked does anyone seriously believe that Niall can really be this disingenuous.

i dont care if you have a problem with me, it does make my life any less enjoyable. Speaking to one of the band members in what way. He answered in a way that suggested he knew everyone's thoughts on the matter. But you are correct, my existence on this board is just to stir up shit about irishrover, despite being a member long beofre he was

fair enough. However, it could also be argued that the person in question held a hell of a lot more than a half dozen members of Medusa in a misanthropic light. Even when many people encouraged him, he threw it back in their faces. In the end, i did adopt a positon of live and let live, despite the fact that his postings annoyed me, and i dont mean his spelling there.

I hope your life is nothing but enjoyable. Yet still your answer of you knowing "alot of people think alot of you but..." is a demeaning remark. People are here because they happen to like/think well of the band and I feel there was no need for your quip. Mr C answered in a way to poke a tad of fun at you and you took offense. If you read the "Saga" (I know you lived it) you pretty much know everyones opinion of the matter. To think it was all a joke not only demeans the person, it further drives a wedge between him and people of the raft even while he's not around. I for one would like to see him back, the sooner the better. Though I fully enjoy it, this place has lost and lacks many of the characters of just a year ago. I am a member of several fan site and i think you're a bit spoiled just to have a member of the band be as active as Mr C is unheard of on most fan sites. So yes I take umbridge with a member that demeans him in a posting on the site.

i thank you rich for that and i can assure you that my remark was in no way meant to be disrespectful to Philip. As for taking offence, you are mistaken on that one. I have the utmost respect for philip and what he ahs achieved with the band, and i am thankful that he takes the time to partake on this forum, but when he does, he is just one of us, an internet forum user, and his posts, like mine and yours, are open to question, which i did, and no i dont apologise for it before you ask.

It's this sort of comment that eventually led us to lose OIrish. Just this one comment has the power to bring out all the others who sit quietly on the sidelines, waiting for the chance to jump in like sheep and ridicule another human being. Just add a few more nails to the coffin. Show no understanding of a unique individual, someone who had so much to offer here. Show no kindness to someone who is in a worse position than most of us, who needed some real practical help from contacts in the place where he wanted to go, who, until the final provocation of banning, hardly said a bad word to anyone, who had a great sense of humour and intelligence.
