Mind you, you probably wouldn't want to be out and about after dark in the fen villages at any time of year. You never know what kind of grisly creatures could come crawling through the miry blackness out of those ditches, stealthily tracking your every footstep, with only the occasional squelching sound somewhere behind you just daring you to cast a peek over your shoulder...
Wait a minute, I always thought Hallowe'en was "mischief night".
