Was it one of those experiences where you looked at each other and said, "Man, why haven't we been here before?" or was it more of a "Man, I can't wait to put this state in my rearview mirror?" After attending shows here for 15+ years, I've found AZ crowds to be very hit-or-miss and, occasionally, quite obnoxious. Last night's crowd was great: singing along, jumping around and generally having the time of their lives. Of course, it probably helped that you guys have more infectious energy than a proton with the flu, but was it a good show for you, too?
The crowd seemed a little unsure of us to begin with, and I felt that putting the show back almost an hour [this was because the support bands would have played to an almost empty house if we'd begun on time] helped to exhaust people a little. Also, although "The Old Main Drag" was sublime, we struggled with the other two new-old numbers. However, there is no doubt that by about halfway through the show, Tempe joined the select list of great first-time crowds.
Thanks for your comments and support.
