After reading the Seattle and Portland reviews, I feel obliged to wade in, on behalf of anyone who's been reading this forum and freaking out about how the rest of the tour is going to be, and say that Shane was definitely on form tonight in San Francisco. The part of his brain that remembers how the songs go and what the lyrics are seemed to be working well, and with one or two exceptions toward the end, his timing was consistently on, even during the trickier numbers ("Poor Paddy," "Fiesta") and the ballads ("Rainy Night in Soho," "Kitty"). You pays your money and you takes your chances with this band.

Setlist was the same as the posted setlist for the Seattle show. Band was great, Shane was drunk, tears were shed for the Irish Famine, etc.

It's a bit like following a football team. They can fill your heart to bursting point or break it instead. Looks like that's the way it's gonna be sometimes. I'm afraid we don't come with guarantees to win every game, even at $50 a shot. I've noticed something though: when we're less than awesome, the crowd seems to make up the difference, as though it is determined not to be shortchanged. I don't think I've ever seen that symbiosis between artist and audience before.

I gotta agree with Hulka on this. I have no complaints at all about tonight's show. Well ... mostly. There were a few occasional screeches of feedback, but they were kept to a minimum. Shane seemed on-form to me.

I don't think you've earned a peek at the set list, but I'll put it here anyway. If you're not comfortable with peeking at a set list you didn't earn don't look below!

The show was amazing! We had a great time and the band was awesome. My husband had never been to a Pogues show before so he was pleasantly surprised. The crowd had a lot of energy (but luckily we were in the balcony to avoid being crushed downstairs) and aside from the minor feedback during the last encore (which really was only for a minute), everything was great. I <3 the Pogues!

Oh and the merchandise was awesome! I really wanted a scarf but I made do with a t-shirt.

I would have to say that the band did not disappoint -- a rousing show by the band, Shane and the crowd. Comments about Shane's condition at Pacific Northwest shows caused some pre-show concern, but it is what it is. From the first song, Streams, last night's show at the Warfield proved to be a better performance, both by Shane and the band, than the one I attended last year at the Fillmore (2nd night last year). Perhaps it was Philip's return to the stage that accounted for part of the difference, but Shane also seemed more animated during several numbers.

All in all, a great show, possibly prompting my return for round two at the Regency Center tonight'.

Fantastic show! Possibly the best performance of all 8 SF Fillmore and 4 NYC Nokia shows I've witnessed in recent years. Thanks Pogues, and especially Phillip for your generosity, hospitality, and passionate performance. (I hope the bag of sweets found you.) Sorry I will not be able to make tonight's show but I am gifting my tickets to 2 well-deserving first-timers. Bravo!

You might want to keep in mind, though, that last night there were two opening acts, and tonight there's just one.
