I actually saw There Will Be Blood before I ever heard The Pogues, so when I heard the song Navigator, I instantly thought of very vivid scenes from this movie. That's easily one of my favorites of the past few years, though I am glad it was beaten by "No Country for Old Men." How about a Pogues song that mirrors the story and themes of that movie? One can always hope...

I'm liking it, KwaK.

And at the end, having got the better of him, our hero and his canine colleagues could devour the slain body of little Jock. And, despite him being undoubtedly evil and tiny, Jock Stewart would be undeniably tasty. As the dog chorus would confirm: "Mmm, a man you don't eat every day..." It's a sort of Grand Guignol Disney moment.

Inside my head all weekend has been developing the screenplay for the Dark Streets Of London movie. Gritty social realism, but with a heart of gold of course. I'm thinking Ken Loach to direct. Or actually possible Andrea Arnold now.

Or Alex Cox / Mike Leigh? As I wrote that the names Tim Roth or Gary Oldman sprung to mind, both have directed excellent 'gritty social realism' films.

That's OK, we cast the lovely Ryan Kwanten (Oz actor who plays Jason Stackhouse in True Blood) before Gibson could get his paws on your script.

Wake of the medusa people! what a movie that would be with cannibalism, drinking of urine, etc. (though perhaps there is a blackadder episode that it resmebels...)

I actually wrote a short story for a writing class based on TOMBSTONES...

i think almost any pogues song could be a movie, how about transmetropolitan, sea shanty, down in the ground... (great for a horror flick!) Body of an american, and cause no one else would dare suggest it, Pachinko, or The Aria!!!!

Well there's The Disappearance of Garcia Lorca if you can count that, but to be honest it's nowhere near as good as the Lorca's Novena movie will be.

I think it's the Paddy Garcia story that could be easiest turned into a film. Think of a western in "300" or "Sin City" aesthetics. The story of a lone gunmen, that is born in 1840s Ireland. The first chapter of the movie is dedicated to the story of his family during the great famine. The family decides to cross the atlantic ( choice of soundtrack music is obvious )
Next chapter: immigrant life New York in the late 1850s/early 1860s.
3rd chapter: Paddy participates in the civil war
4th chapter: After his experiences in the civil war, Paddy goes west, adopts the nickname Paddy Garcia and becomes a Clint-Eastwood-style-lone gunmen that is dreaming of going back to Ireland to liberate it.
