WTF!!?? Boston in March, right b4 Pogues? I can't win.

Already decided I won't be making the trip to Boston in 2009, and now I'm missing two good shows.

CRAP!

Either way, if they actually gave a shit, their album would be available locally, but it is not. GF and family checked more stores (for Christmas) than I did, and still haven't come across the album.

Um, good question. Thought I read it somewhere...maybe I made a mistake.

Either way, re: the album. I'd rather buy it from a local retailer, or ebay, if I could find an american sob willing to ship to Canada.

Order it online. It's not normal that you still didn't get the CD. Record stores in Nova Scotia seem to suck big time.

Has anyone seen their music video for Whiskey Makes Me Crazy ? I don't like the way it is shot, the camera moves around so fast that you can't see anything. The song is awesome though. If someone was good enough on the mandolin and was kind enough to tab some of their songs, I would be sooooooo grateful. I am not bad on that instrument, but sadly not enough to tab songs just by hearing them.

You think it's bad for you? I live in Canada. I think they came here only once or twice, and they never headline. :(

well, Texas and Canada are both wide open spaces, but it looks like they're a lot closer to you this time around.

Yeah they are. I live in Montreal so NY isn't that far away, but I won't drive a couple of hours to see a Tossers gig. I love them, but my laziness is greater than my love for them. :P

So I finally picked up the new album about a week ago. Nice to have finally. Not sure if it's widely available, but I happened to walk into a music store, and there it was.

Re: The Tossers-Tony

Post Sat May 23, 2009 10:17 pm

So, I'm not sure if this has been discussed already...but can anyone explain to me or tell me the story on Tony's voice and accent? They are from Chicago...correct? So when he sings with the accent...that is 'created' or whatever you would call it...yes? And how does he do that 'shaky' thing with his voice?

Spider....could you help me out on this?

I have been listening to them for only a short while and really enjoy their stuff. I've been wandering through their myspace page and looking around for other stuffs on the net...anyone have some cool links?

I hope this question doesn't sound too stupid to those more familiar with the band. I am obviously not a musician or a singer. I've been wondering about Tony and his voice for some time...but was too shame to ask anyone here. And as I don't know anybody else to ask...well...there it is.

Chinaski, Tony is from Chicago. He doesn't speak with any accent. I mean, not even a Chicago accent. His grandparents were from Ireland. He learned all the old songs from them. My take on it is, when he sings he sings the way he learned the songs, the way he remembers, which is with an accent.

It's not "fake" or "put on". That's just the way he sings.

And it works for me.
