Procrastinating by browsing the Internet offers some rewards. This misheard lyric cropped up for Robert Palmer's "You're addicted to love":

Might as well face it, you're a dick with a glove.

This is the best ever! And i swear it's true! My 4 year old, Sarah was watching TV when an advert came on that had two angels on a cloud (Philladelphia Cheese?).

Up she pipes...

"Daddy, are they the Smoke Girls?"

"What do you mean?" I said.

"The Smoke Girls.......up in the sky" She says frustratedly.

"Huh, what are you on about? Totally confused dad.

"They're in that song........Diddly idle diddle dum, Diddly idle diddle dum and the smoke girls up in the sky"

The image of mystical females smoking on clouds will never leave me.

(Pogues and Dubliners, Rare Old Mountain Dew, "There's a neat little still at the foot of the hill, where the smoke curls up in the sky")

That's 100% true. Don't ya just love 'em?

One of my friends thought that the line in Sea Shanty went "We shit on a jacket we found a tree", which conjured up some excellently bizarre mental imagery :)

For ages I thought 'the compliments pass when the quality meet'...from Sea Shanty, went..'the cutlass and glass sure are quality made'... it made sense too. :?

Driving along, years ago...tape playing Sham 69..'if the kids are united' ...Brendan, my son, who was eight...in the back bellowing out..'if you kiss all your money'....bless.
And his first match at Old Trafford...crowd singing 'Ferguson's red and white army'...
him...'Ferguson's gonna go barmy'

White City: "And it's just another bloody way to die" instead of "rainy day".

To my credit, it sounds kind of bad ass the way I heard it.

Ummmmm....154? :?

To stay on topic...crap, I can't even think of any. I guess the entirety of "Rain Street" was a misheard lyric to me until I actually read them.

Body of an American...'the tinker boys they hissed advice, hot-wire her with a pin'..
to my ears..even now..'the tinker boys they hissed advice on murder with a grin'...
I prefer the 2nd line...er..smiley face thing.

" And now the winter comes down and I can't stand the chill,
that comes in the springtime and I kiss my last fag,
I'm buggered for a match and I haven't got a penny,
To wander the dark streets of London."

For years, before the lyrics book came out , I couldn't nail these lines so this is what I came up with. Not too f**kin' shabby if you ask me actually.

On the same song, i thought for years they gave you a nice warm drink. Not an electric shock to the head!

And every time that I look on the first day of summer,
Takes me back to the place where they gave you sweet tea,
And the drugged up psychos
With death in their eyes.......

For years, and I mean YEARS, me and my brother couldn't , for love nor money, make out the lines;

" We've a thirst like a gang of devils, we're the boys from the county hell ".

All I could come up with and what I used to sing to it was;
" We're the worst looking gang of devils, we're the boys from the county hell ".
Sorry lads. Ha!

The Pixies - Debaser

got me a movie
i want you to know
slicing up eyeballs
i want you to know

I have the cd (WITH lyrics) but I always thought it was "slicing up bibles"

another one is with The Ramones - Sheena is a punkrocker

But she just couldn't stay she had to break away
Well New York City really has is all oh yeah, oh yeah

One day she´s really gonna have it all was my guess for a long time
The piano has been drinking, not me
