Let him off to the shop to get a Sherbet Dib Dab.

I'm off to start a thread with my winnings. It's gonna be called "The Band were great, the singer was......Blah Blah Blah". I'm going to put it in the Politics section just to see how long it takes MacRua to find it a new home.

In response to the rumours currently circulating, I need to state that no form of bribery whatever was involved in my failure to live up to the odds being offered on me. The results of routine drug testing are still awaited.

Die Band war toll, der Sänger war betrunken und Tränen waren für die Hungersnot geweint.
Likes the warm feeling but is tired of all the dehydration.

I think it goes without saying that if a new Pogues album were to come out (or maybe a DVD of the recent live concerts?) that this would have to be the title.

I was at that show, and although I can't remember a much very clearly (even though I didn't have the run of the bar, I had enough cash to get shitfaced). I had just learned of the Pogues and had an awesome time - it was a great show. The most vivid memory I have is of Shane sitting in a chair towards the back of the stage when he wasn't up front singing, whiskey bottle in his hand.

Everyone should also know that the 8x10 club went down hill and ended up closing in the late 80's or early 90's. The inside started falling apart and the owner never bothered to fix it up. Rumor had it he was putting all the profit up his nose. But, the club's been fixed up and been open for at leats 10 years now and is doing well... Loved the Pogues at Rams Head a couple years ago - would lvoe to see a return to Baltimore..

I was at that show also. I was on/off dating a girl who worked there sometimes as a bartender named Holly. Red hair, red lips, piercing eyes... Anyway! She called me up and said "ohmygawd, there are a bunch of Irishmen getting loaded at 8x10, get here soon because the soundcheck was brilliant but they might not make it past the first set." I got there a bit before the band started and had a great time. I had never seen a singer put his mic into the crowd, not so that they could sing along on the chorus, but because (apparently) said singer had forgotten the words to his own song! A great Baltimore memory. Thanks. And, yeah, Dickie was putting the club up his nose, but he was a great guy, and he regretted it.

I loved the 8x10, and having grown up in B'more that was one of the prime places for new music. I punched in a few years later, around 1989, and caught a lot of ska acts there.
