Honestly, if I didn't visit this forum periodically I would not have known about it. I do not think it's being promoted as much as in in years past. I told a few friends who also did not know.

Couldn't agree more... I have been the one to let all my friends who are Pogues fans know about the show... Not one of them knew about it until I mentioned it... I have yet to see anything about it, except for on this forum... Damn shame...

I think it has been pointed out elsewhere on these fora that public advertising has not yet begun for our US shows. Naturally, the closer to sell-out they become before the actual event, the less the promoter's general advertising costs will be. Makes sense to me.

News Flash
The Government of Canada has recently announced a "Royal Commission" investigating as to WHY "The Pogues" have canceled their gig dates in Toronto and Montreal??
First reports have it that the venue in Toronto have a "no-hat" policy present for all gigs??.............. an anonymous back bencher was quoted " how can true Pogues fans attend a Pogues gig without hats, can one imagine The Pogues performing without hats??...................this is unacceptable, we will make laws to allow for hats, anything the government can do to change these archaic policy of a "no hat venue" will be done??.................this is simply unacceptable for Canadians??
Steven Harpers right hand elections man, is an avid Pogues fan, and he has directly lobbied the prime minister to put aside all other issues to get to the bottom of this situation?? If Canadians are forced to travel far and wide to US destinations and spend their hard earned money, this will have a direct impact on the Canadian economy, this cash drain on our economy is simply unacceptable, he stated "We must be able to see "The Pogues" in Canada, and the government have plans to force promoters to come up with an acceptable contract to fulfill these events??
As for the Montreal gigs, it has been reported that Quebecs language laws have come into effect for that gig??.......from erroneous reports, "The Pogues" in order to play in Montreal were being demanded to all sing in "French"??.......now if anyone thinks its difficult to understand what Shane MacGowan was saying before, can you imagine him speaking /(singing) in French??.........................simply put an unacceptable situation, this has put the Canadian music scene into crisis??
The seriousness of not having The Pogues comes to Canada, is right up there with the issues of the economy, Canadian Pogues fans should be allowed to spend their cash in Canada, another mp was quoted??
Another mp was quoted as saying??......................how can we allow this cash drain on our economy when so many jobs are dependent on people spending money in their own country, this situation must be resolved??
Steven Harper was quoted??.........................this is unacceptable to all Canadian Pogues fans, he has appointed his right hand man to lead the investigation into this cancellation, and with the power of the Canadian Government we are determined to address this situation, so that loyal Canadian Pogues fans will have the opportunity to see their most treasured group perform in Canada??
Stay tuned for further updates??...........................
When i learned that "The Pogues" were canceling their CDN dates, i was so upset it took me less than ten minutes to buy tickets for the 13th in NY, i had the week of the 17th booked off for St Paddys day in New York, so my plans changed and i added another day to my week off??
Speaking of which, how is the City of New York handling their "inquisition" into being slighted on St Patricks day over Washington, by "The Pogues"??.................
"No promises, just hopes."................................cheers to hopes, and never say never??..............
If "hopes" do come through, i will be forced into seeing them again??....dam how will i handle that??.......................

Although some Canadian date would be nice for sure, they've been here and done that (Montreal, Toronto & Vancouver at least).
I wouldn't personally consider it a true victory however w/o an east coast show (be it Moncton, NB or Halifax, NS).
Phil & Terry have been here at least, which was awesome and unexpected to say the least. But we've also had plenty of other big names in recent years (Stones, Elton John, and many more) and have completely slighted Celine Dion in recent years (hopefully she'll never come back).
I'd like to say this is the last I'll say about the subject, but we all know it's not.

I'll have my pockets full of those little airline bottles of Irish whiskey again...they hit the spot, no?
See you at the rail!
