I'll second that motion.

Yes I was just speaking with my brother at a cocktail party yesterday about the very same. He first saw the Pogues without Shane and they instantly became his favorite band. Still are.

From Wikipedia:

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.[2]

First of all, this is quite obviously a HUGE wind up.

Secondly, I would far prefer a pogues gig without Shane. Especially if they performed some of shanes tracks with some combination of Spider/Terry/Mr. C on vocals. I saw that video of Greenland in England somewhere, and although it was quite funny, it was also quite embarrasing for the rest of the band. I really think the rest of the band are on top form at the moment but Shane just drags them down.

Also, I think I'm getting a bit bored of hearing the same songs over and over again. I really enjoyed Cotton fields, greenland and Metropolis this year and actually physicaly wet myself after Dark streets and Transmetropolitan last year. I have recently begun to wonder, what would happen if they replaced Shane. I realise I may or may not be treading on an awful lot of toes with that suggestion but nevertheless, its an interesting prospect.
I love it when a plan comes together.

I have heard from a very official source that it was recently considered that The Pogues tour with Patsy Watchorn instead of Shane as he was refusing to tour and had other commitments. However, this never came to be.

I have it on good merit that Prof Stephen Hawking will be free for gigs once he's retired as the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge next year.

The Pogues (excuse the band for a mo) are Shane!!!
Now amongst with many others of you I have watched the Pogues with spider at the helm and ok they were good but isnt half the reason we go to see Shane????
Ok its good to see honours passed over to Phil, Spider, Andrew, Terry etc for a few songs (nice change) but come on Shane is the man who should steer the Sodomy along its path in life, whoever thinks not should start listening to The Fureys or someone!!!
