Just sorted out tickets for the 20th at Brixton.

Nearly £70 to take my girl to the Pogues. It's worth it, but fucking hell between this and the massive dubstep festival at Pentonville this week, the dab, k and sniff that entails, my mate arranging Alan Wass at the rhythm factory none of my family are having an especially merry xmas.

"Oh, you've written me a song. Great."

"And you say you made this coat hook yourself. No shit."

...
Anyway this'll be fourth time I've seen the Pogues in my nineteen years and it's always a great show. Apart from the Clash, the greatest band of all time. Last time, at Nottingham I lambasted Shane outside.

Here's that picture again just in case anyone missed it the first eight times round.

Anyway, can't wait.

What is to do?

It's at Eamonn Dorans in Temple Bar, or like Philip said, all the pubs will be a party!

Nothing. It's Dublin. The whole city's a party.

Hear hear!
And Temple Bar is not the place to go, unless you prefer shitty music and way too much people. That's my experience at least.
Eamonn Dorans can be OK, but it's a bit sucky as well. But a shitload of Pogues fans might just do the trick.

The Celt, located at 81 Talbot Street is always the place to go in Dublin! 15 minutes to go from Temple Bar if you know your way 'round town.

But not all the pubs will be a revel for a noble cause and a competition for Shane's top hat ;)

Hi, I'm going to the BElfast show this Saturday. Can anyone tell me what time the Pogues will be on at and what time the set should be over at? Thanks in advance.

As a general rule, though it is not infallible, The Pogues hit the stage between 9pm and 9.15 pm and play for between 90 minutes and two hours.

Belfast gig promo at enterntainment-ie:

ANNUAL KNEES-UP WITH SHANE & CO.
The Pogues
What would Christmas be without a Pogues piss-up gig? They may have descended into self-parody these days, but the Shane McGowan-led band weren't always so one-dimensional. By demonstrating that the spirit of punk could live in traditional Irish folk music, The Pogues were one of the most radical bands of the mid-'80s. Led by Shane MacGowan, whose slurred, incomprehensible voice often disguised the sheer poetry of his songs, The Pogues were undeniably political - not only were many of their songs explicitly in favor of working-class liberalism, but the wild, careening sound of their punk-injected folk was implicitly radical. Defining albums (among them Rum, Sodomy and the Lash) throughout their career means that they're still packing the crowds in over twenty years after they formed - they play Belfast and Dublin during December.

This is meant to be promo? What would they write if they were trying to persuade people not to go to a gig?

Don't think I'd employ again a promo-writer who came out with crap like that.

Go to Kilmainham Gael, its an excellent bit of history not to be missed, i found it very emotional, you see the awful cells James Connolly and the others were kept in and they show you the yard where he was strapped in a chair and shot against the wall and in the other wing you see Grace Giffords cell will the mural still intact she painted on the wall, along with prisoners last letters before they were shot its a must see in Dublin as far as i am concerned

Sounds very Christmassy. :)

Is there any ritual that the band have before the gig begin? I heard from other bands, that they have they own way to keep fit before the tour begin. But I think it is very difficult to live a normal life direct after the tour.
