It's almost like they (and other bands) would rather I download their albums illegally.
Make it available, and I'll buy it. Same goes for the Pogues box. I still haven't picked it up. I don't think there are ANY Pogues albums on any local shelves right now.

Doesn't anyone in the music business have any idea that the major traditional music in Halifax, Nova Scotia, or the Atlantic Provinces is CELTIC music (Or rather, Irish and Scottish music)?

It depends where you live I guess. Here I can have mostly anything I want, even though it's not an English-speaking province. I had to order the pre-Victory Tossers albums though, because Thick does not distribute in Canada I think. But I can get anything on a big-enough label. But you are in Canada too, so it's weird that you have problems getting records, whereas in Quebec we have everything that isn't TOO underground.Doesn't anyone in the music business have any idea that the major traditional music in Halifax, Nova Scotia, or the Atlantic Provinces is CELTIC music (Or rather, Irish and Scottish music)?
I don't think we could call traditional music in French Canada Celtic music, but it certainly is reminiscent of Celtic music. Many parts of the new Tossers album reminds me of old French Canadian folk songs. Especially the last part of the second instrumental (forgot the name), a Quebecer could have written that.
Sober wrote:I never said it was, I merely said that it sounds a lot like it. I've got an English-speaking friend who went to some music festival in Ontario a couple of months ago. A French Canadian folk band played there. She's not familiar with French Canadian music, so after the show she asked the singer of the band why they were playing Irish music if they were from French Canada. So anyway he had to explain it all to her. But for an untrained ear, it's really easy to make that mistake.

They just released a new album. Which is pretty good.

Thanks Eckhard, yes, and I'm listening to it as I write this. (it's great!) I suppose I should post these questions on their website, eh? If I get an answer I'll let y'all know.
