Just to be clear about this. We did receive a serious offer from an Australian promoter but it was not, in our judgement, sufficiently financially rewarding to undertake the punishing schedule. As we all get older, I am no longer the only Pogue who needs to factor these things in.

One of the secondary reasons I moved back to England from Brisbane was to see bands that don't tour Oz that I was really missing (then Billy Bragg goes down a couple of months later )
Of the English blokes that I did see in Oz - Martin Stephenson, Luka Bloom, Fruitbat from Carter - most of the chaps aren't accompanied by seven other band members and just sort of busk around while they're on their xmas holiday, staying with friends and relations, which I guess makes the financial side of the business a secondary thought?

yep, regardless of working out the figures in comparison to the exchange rate (which I stopped doing as soon as a wage came in) they are not only expensive, but over-priced. The Special Beat played in one of the Brisbane suburbs and were charging $74 a ticket

Eric Clapton tickets range from $99 to $400 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. Which is approx 42 to 170 GBP.
