I find that after reading any MySpace page. MySpace is lame. I just don't get the hype.

It is lame, I don't use it but I was speaking to one of the lads from Glasgow-Irish band The Wakes who had just done a gig with them and he pointed me i nthe direction of their blog. Tossers is a good name for them.

Where did you see that they insulted The Wake? The only blog entry that I read where they were pissed at a band is because the band in question used The Tossers equipment WITHOUT asking, after The Tossers already made sure it worked properly, and when it was their turn to play, the guitar or guitar amp whatever didn't work. I don't think they mentioned it was The Wake, but if that's what you are talking about, they've got EVERY reason in the world to be pissed.

I had never heard The Tossers before seeing them discussed on these forums, so I went and checked out their MySpace page. I was intrigued enough to buy "Gloatin' and Showboatin'" the other day. Very impressive. Now I just need to find a way to catch them live!!
Have you heard about the big strong man?

I don't speak it, I just know the ballad (or think I do?) but it basically means give us another round, which is said in the English version.

Excellent piece of work.

And it is an idea as simple as brilliant, to make the second disc a dvd with all the tracks from the cd ( and more ).

I just wish it had some Purgatory songs though. ;) But now the world can witness how amazing this band truly is live. That was a great idea to release this. :) Now, what are the plans for a Pogues live DVD? ;)

The Tossers are a great band--second only to the Pogues as far as I'm concerned.

I happened to meet their fiddle player, Becca Manthe, where she works. I walked into the office and saw her at her desk in the back room and said "Is that the fiddler from The Tossers?" The girl at the front desk didn't know who I was talking about--I think I blew her cover at work since no one there knew she was in a band. She was really cool to me even though I'm sure I came off as such a dork...and managed to accidentally insult her by saying "I think it's cool you have a real job" when what I really meant was that I think it's cool to meet someone you admire so much in "everyday life".

I just bought the new album and it's sooooooooo good. Best album yet as far as I'm concerned. But I only listened to it once yet, so maybe after a few listens I'll have a different opinion. It's sad that their Banjo player left the band for good though.

I would say that it's their fastest since a while, second only to Long Dim Road. They don't have that many ballads and some songs are really fast. My favorite song is Whiskey Drives Me Crazy.

I wonder how hard it is to get the song listing right on the back of the CD and inside the booklet though. It's the third time it's messed up (Agony and their live CD weren't right either). Here, inside the booklet, only 13 songs are listed, even though there are 14 on the CD. On the back of the CD case, 13 songs are listed, and at least the order for those 13 is right, but it goes from 10 to 12, so the 12th one is the eleventh song really. And it doesn't mention the 14th song. But the lyrics to this mysterious 14th song are included in the booklet though. It's really annoying.

I didn't know there was a new album. What's it called? The web site stops at Agony so far.

edit: Alright, found it on myspace.

I agree what you say. They're second to only The Pogues. There seems to be at least some consensus here that they're not terribly good. ??!! WTF? Musically, they're fantastic. Lyrics are great, though I have not studied them. And the vocals are fantastic.

Maybe I'll pick this album up tonight...

...but not before I go shopping for a Mandolin. Got nothing to do with the Tossers. I've determined this week that I want to finally learn an instrument, and I've settled on the Mandolin.

Damn right the vocals are fantastic. Tony Duggins has such a broad singing range, it's amazing.

The album is called On a Fine Spring Evening. It's generally happier than their previous efforts, but whatever, I like it. On their 2 previous albums, there were always some songs that I didn't like. On this one, I dig them all.
