I think my first was The Cars in '79 or '80. And I didn't see more than 2 minutes of it because I was completely and totally smashed. It was a waste of what was to me at the time an expensive ticket. Very stupid of me. Ah well I learned my lesson.

Hmmm.

I guess the first big deal concert at a big deal venue would have been Love and Rockets (in support of 7th dream, but they also played Kundalini) at the Universal Amphitheatre (1986???), although I'm not 100% certain of the year. I do remember someone trying to toke on my joint without so much as a "by your leave". I recall being in the last row, in a folding chair.

I did see a few punk shows in (very) small venues before that (thanks again, Nicci!!!), and of coruse many thereafter.

As I think about it, I can also remember a Hollywood Palladium Primitives/Sugarcubes show (Primitives GREAT! but Bjork had a sore throat) around the same time, but I was in college living with my girlfriend then, and I don't think we were together for the L&R show.

You know, I think I don't remember much for certain, actually. No way it could have been the drugs.........right?

AC/DC (With Bon Scott)
The Stranglers
Boomtown Rats
Status Quo
The Kinks

I think all these were in 1977, however the Kinks may have been a year or so later, memory/old age and all that
Over the years i saw AC/DC and Quo the most about 5 and 10 times respectively(The Pogues are quickly catching up) and i was very fortunate to have seen AC/DC with Bon Scott and Brian Johnson and with no disrespect to Brian i always prefered Bon's voice.

July 1971 aged 15...T.Rex supported by Supertramp...it was 50 new pence to get in!
Also, in '72..Elton John..60p admission.
Moose, I saw Status Quo in '75, in Dortmund...still ranks as one my favourite gigs ever.

You mean this one? The one in the same place it's always been?

The Jackson Five

and yes..I was wearing off brand "jelly shoes" and a fake red and black "leather" jacket my step-mum made me.

Really, it was my step-sisters thing (no...I'm not just making excuses) She was on my dads shoulders screaming and crying the whole time.

My Pops knew someone...so we got 35thish row on the floor. That was damn good for Arrowhead Stadium! I was a bit indifferent.

My first "adult"ish concert was "Whitesnake". My choice. My bad. I was about 14-15 years old. Some 30-40ish men sporting mullets got me and my best friend stoned for the first time.

They were very impressed with my torn jeans..... complete with butt cheek exposed. One middle aged gentleman was so generous he even let me sit on his lap so I wouldn't lose my turn on the joint. What a nice man! I returned the favor by not reporting him to security (him having a miniature billy club in his front pocket and all)...

Then........ I went into the dark and easily forgetable years of Heavy Metal/Hair Bands. Now, Metallica (then) kicked ass..but Poison?? SERIOUSLY. WTF? How did THAT happen?

But isn't it so natural to be nice to youngsters and take care for them  And youngsters used to have more respect for adults ages ago..

Comparing a bared navel with bared butts - it's useless, nah? Well, maybe like a joint holder..
I mean a navel..

Tom Petty. I think it was a good concert...or maybe it was just the weed :) Stevie Nicks joined him on stage for awhile, so that was pretty sweet.

The girl cried out a few times and the old man slept with his mouth wide open and his bad teeth showing.

Mine was the UK Subs at Manchester Polytechnic in about 1980. I was either 12 or 13 at the time.

It was the matinee show. My first jaw dropping moment was that all the crazy lot down the front were spitting none stop at the lead singer, Charlie Harper.
