Wow, words really can't describe the show. Granted, I knew they were going to be good, but holy crap!!
I get a little teary just thinking of some of those songs.

Our feet are killing us. And I love it!

Such a smart call, taking off work today.

I can only hope they come back again soon.
Then, I'll be able to bring some of my foolish friends who missed ya this time.

I really hope the band enjoyed our city.

Thank you so very very much for a wonderful night!!

Couldn't agree more. The first posts I read on this forum were from Sheva, Mick, Bud, Firehazard, etc. Good too see you pop in

Hmmm...I wonder...were they the two horn players from the Pietasters, who opened in Baltimore? Those fellas were quite good. Was it a trombone & a tenor sax?

Mr. Chevron,

Let me add to the chorus of well-wishers when I say it was great seeing you in Philly last night. "Thousands Are Sailing" is definitely my favorite Pogues song, and I shouted every word along with you - not that you needed the help! You sounded great.

This question may have been asked on a previous forum, but how does the band determine the setlist? The reason I ask is I keep hoping that "Lorelei" will find its way onto the current setlist. There are some of us out here who would love to hear it live.

Again, thanks for an enthusiastic, brilliant, amazing show, and it was great seeing you back onstage.

I just joined the forum, glad to be here. Last night was my second Pogues gig, and it was just as powerful and memorable as last year's snow-drenched Philly show.

Mr. Chevron, seeing you take the stage was the highlight of the evening, and your performance of "Thousands Are Sailing" was incredible. I concur with Titus: "Lorelei" would be a fantastic addition!

Thanks for the extraordinary show.

The first Pogues show I attended was at the Chestnut Cabaret in Philadelphia, 1986. What I remebered from that show was Cait's unwillingness to look at the crowd, the pro-IRA chants prior to the Pogues taking the stage, and the velocity of the songs. Only the Ramones ripped through a set list quicker than the Pogues in that era. In the twenty-two years that have passed their live performance are no less manic, and showcase the poetry of Shane and the power of each musician without the need to prove how fast they can speed up a song. Last night, "Sick Bed" was stellar, the slow build-up to the manic out break made it impossible not to charge the stage. "Dark Streets of London" was another great performance, and "Rainy Night" was pure poetry. And "Repeal of the Liscensing Laws" is evidence they can still rip through a number if they want to. Five years ago, I resigned to the thought that I would probably never see the Pogues perfom live again. For the past three years, I have attended three monster performances by musicians that have created art that marks some of the significant milestones of my life. I hope you gentlemen stay well and tour the states again next year. If so, remember the support you recieve in Philadelphia.

Phil, my prayers are with you. May the Lord keep you well.

WOW! after so many years, that I cannot count, this was quite the tightest performance by The Pouges. For years, this band has been by "outlet" for fun. I'm a prog rock guru, which many in fact, many call us music snobs. This night I witnessed pure muscial genius. With age comes beauty, and obviously talent, please carry on. Not many "washed up" bands from the 80's here in the US, are able to pull of off of what you have done.

This night, all have proved it truly is not only Shane, but 8 individuals, with vigor, enthusiasum, and love that will have me at 37, coming back for more and more...until that time has come.

Thanks Philip, you make us smile,

Cheers!!!!

This was my 3rd year in a row and each year gets better. Couldn't ask for more. Highlight for me was Poor Paddy. Ilove that song. Anybody catch what Shane said before Body of an American? Sounded like he dedicated to someome but we couln't make out who.

Great show last night. Hearing "Dark Streets of London" was awesome. I don't think that was on the set list last year.
Good to see Phil Chevron jumping around getting the crowd pumped up. Best wishes on your continued recovery Phil. Cheers.

Good to see Shane out of the wheelchair this year. Beautiful vocals on "Rainy Night in Soho" and "Kitty", Shane. And great kick ass gutter vocals on Bottle of Smoke, Sick Bed and Fiesta as well.

I freaked out a little when Shane didn't come out for the first number. I thought, "Uh oh, here we go again."

I think Spider was a bit freaked too. He seemed to be ticked off at Shane the rest of the night. Especially when Shane forgot the set order.
Then again maybe that's just the way two old buddies banter. Like the way I was screaming at two of my friends to "shut the f up" when they were discussing whether Gary Oldham or Sean Penn should play Shane in the movie version of the Pogues story while Shane was singing "Boys from the County Hell". You see what I have to put up with?

Moronic, drunken conversations of my friends aside, and "is Shane and Spider's honeymoon over?" speculation on my part aside, it was a fantastic show.
Please keep coming back to Philly!
