This is something I stumbled across accidentally. The Yoshida Brothers are Shamisen masters, plain and simple. For those who don't know, the Shamisen is a 3 stringed Japanese banjo, traditionally played by buskers in the North. The songs are usually of love and loss, and usually much more emotional than the norm.

The Yoshida Brothers have embraced modernity, and have fused modern rock with their traditional instruments, taking world-wide rhythms (I just realized that rhythms has no vowels. Cool) and adding a unique and delicious spin to them.

At first I didn't get it, and then I suspect I REALLY didn't get it from a Japanese perspective, and then I realized that I got it the first time and this is just evidence that the Japanese are ......very different than Americans.....although they just keep trying.
