Pogues tribute album

Post Wed Aug 17, 2005 11:28 am

Belgium label Ghetto-Rock is currently working on a "Tribute To The Pogues" compilation album tentatively called Streams Of Whiskey. The following bands have confirmed so far :

The Agitators "Streams Of Whiskey"
The Borderguards "Bright Lights"
Colt 45 "Sunny Side Of The Street"
Cranked Up "Happy Song" (The Nips)
H-Block 101 "Rain Street"
Lancaster County Prison "Satan Is Waiting" (co-written and sang by Shane MacGowan!)
The McGillicuddys "Thousands Are Sailing"
Mutiny "Navigator"
Neck "I'm A Man You Don't Meet Every Day"
Nervous Chillin' "A Rainy Night In Soho"
The Porters "Fiesta"
The Reducers S.F. "A Pair Of Brown Eyes"
Rum Runner "A Body Of An American"
Saint Bushmill's Choir "Greenland Whale Fisheries"
Street Dogs "Dirty Old Town"
The Tossers "Young Ned Of The Hill"

The Street Dogs song should be interesting. So should The Porters' be, they claim to have a good singer now.
Too bad The Tossers didn't do anything new.

That's really cool. A friend of mine's brother is the lead singer of Rum Runner and she told me about this awhile ago. Didn't think it was much of a big deal, but it seems to be bigger than I had previously thought. I've heard Rum Runner's covers of If I Should Fall... and Streams of Whiskey and they sounded pretty good so i'm curious to see how Body of an American turns out.

Hell, I don't see Third Eye Blind anywhere on that list, as long as they have nothing to do with this it'll be great...

By the way, i've been lurking for awhile and finally decided to register so I could throw my 2 cents into the ring from time to time. So... hello!

That's pretty cool. I'm really lookin forward to the cranked up song, they played here a few weeks ago, they're real good. My band opened!:D
