Audience???????

Post Tue Jan 08, 2008 3:28 pm

Oiroish,

Regarding the question about who comes into the bar to see us at night, well the Canary Islands is a tourist resort and the 3 main tourist7popular islands in the chain is Gran Canaria, which we are on, Lanzarote, and Tenerife.
The crowds are from all over the world including Serbia!!!!! - no bullshit!!!!! they´re even here from Africa and no passports and no visa´s!!!!!!!!!!!
Now thats what I call innovative!!!
Yes, we have lots of Irish people coming in to the bar at night, theres lots of English and Scottish also, and the Scandinavian´s are also flocking in, you shoulda seen them jumping and dancing last night!

Priest´s & Guinness

Post Thu Jan 10, 2008 3:12 pm

Hello Clash,

Nice making your aquaintance.

Might have sounded funny it´s soooooooooooooooooooooooo true!!!!!!!!

Least I managed to get the bus last night back to playa del ingles and at not such an unholy time in the morning!

Kieran our guitarist, singer & tin whistle player went out on a cruise boat today with his woman, and it´s awfully windy and the sea is rough so are they going to pay for it big time!!!!!!! went out at 10 and dose´nt get back in until 4 pm so I´d love to see the faces on them when they step off the boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cruise boat

Post Fri Jan 11, 2008 3:49 pm

Hello Zuzana,

They did indeed go out but the boat stayed in close to shore and so avoided the rough seas they would have encountered otherwise, Kieran and the woman are living in the next town called Puerto Rico, I live in Playa del Ingles so we dont see each other during the day, Kieran and the woman are real tourists and do tourist things every day, whereas myself and Mickey or Noel are real Paddy´s and we behave as such (never go to the beach, never go sight-seeing, dont go sky diving, dont go wind surfing, dont go swimming, etc, etc) We tend to keep it Irish and just Hog, play the gig at night and then go hogging after the gig, and the next day just get up around 11 and go down to the bar for coffee to waken up, maybe glance at a newspaper, have a late lunch, back to the house and then off again to the gig and do it all over again!
I do like to come in and go on the internet for awhile and check messages.

By the way, Thanks Pablo in Moscow for your message on the guestbook on our website,
Thank you also Patrick in Dublin for your message and who came to 2 of our concerts in the Czech Republic in august!

Ok, talk again and as they say here in Gran Canaria.....Adios amigo´s!!!!

How about night beach hogging? Empty beach, gentle breeze, starry sky, a bottle of wine... or dozens bottles of beer and a gallon of whiskey, whatever. :) A reasonable compromise between the tourist way and the paddy way, nah? Oh, and baking potatoes in an open fire right on the beach! Been there, done that, can heartily recommend! :)

Night on the beach hogging????

Post Sat Jan 12, 2008 4:32 pm

Ahoj Zuzana,
Night on the beach hogging sounds a lot more interesting, you would need a jacket on at night time as believe it or not it gets cold at night at this time of the year out here even though in the day it is in the 20´s, last night at 8 pm it was 16.C, it definitely got a lot cooler by 1 am as we were sitting outside the bar in Puerto Rico and you could feel it, its fine by me of course.
Least we managed to get the bus back last night.

Speaking of "touristy" things, theres a huge swimming pool just outside the back of where I´m living and it is really nice, you never see anyone going into it though!!!!! I keep telling Kieran about this as he´s the "tourist" in the band and he cant get over this at all!!!!!!!!!!! it drives him carzy as he dose´nt have a swiming pool over where he lives, he said if he was living over in my place he´s be in the pool every day, and I know he would!
God but the whole crowd where I´m living cant be as bad as us!!!!!!!!!! (Paddys) :-))))))))))))))))))))))))))))9

Johan, we´re not over in the Czech Republic in april, it will be august. I´d say our tour schedule in teh website is not updated with concert info yet.

OK thanks alot Michael. 8)

I´d say you´ll have the same problems as i´w had, getteing the kids into the pool (we had our own and it was freezzzzzzing) :D Though your not trying to convince your kids, but a drunk paddy i´ll say you have a BIG advantage.(easey win for you) Finaly we where all in the pool (about 14 degrees), it´s warmer in the ocean. :D

Though, IF you think the water is TO cold, thers a little temp. public pool right next to the beach in Puerto Rico, (27 degrees) for only 8 € a day (9,80 inkl. full irish breakfast) i´d say it´s worth it for you and you´ll dont have to go home with the late bus  8)

Have fun.

I must say I’ve never really understood the buzz about swimming pools at hotels. :) When I go to the seaside, I go there to enjoy the beach and swimming in the sea, nah? Yes, the sea can be cold, and the water can be more on the dirty side than the azure-blue side, and the beach can be overcrowded, but well, these are the joys of seaside holidaying! Wasting time in a pool when one can hear the ocean waves splashing nearby sounds crazy. :)

Off-topic (or actually more on-topic in this thread :)): Do you get requests from people in the audience for any particular songs in Gran Canaria?

Pools, Youtube & Requests!!!!

Post Thu Jan 17, 2008 4:11 pm

Hello everyone,

Dont ask, and yes, we did it again!!!!!!!

Anyway, Thanks Pyro for putting up the songs from Noc S Andelum!

Johan, I dont think I´ll be going to Puerto Rico for a swimming pool, we had one just outside out hotel and myself and Mickey (our bouzouki player) were just like the 2 ould ones on the muppet show above in the balcony looking down at it for a fortnight, and just laughing about the fACT that we have a swimming pool but would´nt go down into it for a swim...... talk about Irish !!!!!!!!!!!!

Zuzana, yes we get lots of requests for songs each night, we might have to sing whiskey in the jar about 5 times a night for the constant flow of people coming into the bar and also 5 times for the wild rover.

The "Irish Rover"

Post Fri Jan 18, 2008 2:47 pm

OIrioish,

Yes we get have got a few requests for "The Irish Rover" since we started up over here, in fact I sang it last night.
The wild rover and whiskey in the jar are asked for up to 10 times a night because of the constant flow of people coming into the bar and so want to hear it, we have actually had to sinf them up to 5 times because of the shouts and demands, its boring for us but the place is paying us very well to do it so we need to keep people at least as happy as possible,
I was out playing in Hong Kong back in 1995 (St.Patrick´s week) and again in 1997 also for Patricks week and on Patrick´s day 1997 I had to sing the fucking fields of Athenry 50 times that day, after that I swore I´d never sing it again, the song is nice, not a bit wrong with it but I really get tired of it, I sing it again out here but only when it´s requested, I tend to avoid it.

And yes we did it again last night.

At this stage I´m just giving up on getting the bus back, better off now to just accept our fate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What an appropriate name for the band.......................The Hogs!!!!!!!!
