T&C bootleg

Post Mon Aug 15, 2005 9:34 am

I was looking at the Pogues live website and I saw the Town and Country bootleg and the set-list is much longer then the DVD,

The Battle March Medley
The Broad Majestic Shannon
Medley
Repeal Of The Licensing Laws
Kitty

If I Should Fall From Grace With God
Boat Train
Metropolis

A Rainy Night In Soho
Thousands Are Sailing
Bottle Of Smoke
Streets Of Sorrow-Birmingham Six

Fairytale Of New York (with Kirsty MacColl)
*Lullaby Of London
Johnny Come Lately (Spider Stacy vocals)
*Dirty Old Town
I Fought The Law (Joe Strummer vocals)
London Calling (Joe Strummer vocals)
*Turkish Song Of The Damned
*Fiesta
Sally MacLennane
The Sick Bed Of Cuchulainn

Worms (Andrew Rankin vocals)
*Jesse James (Spider Stacy vocals)
*A Pair Of Brown Eyes
The Irish Rover
A Message To You, Rudi (Lynval Golding vocals)
*Goodnight Irene
Wild Rover

Just wondering if there was a reason why some much of the set-list was taken out was it they simply couldn’t fit it all on the DVD or another reason? seems a shame, anyone got the bootleg on CD? [/b]

The Video "Live at the Town & Country Club" only featured 14 tracks.
As far as I know the DVD is only a rip off of the Video from 1988.

But I have to agree, the complete show on DVD would be awesome.

I knew that they played more songs then was on the DVD because on the documentary I heard Medley when Joe Strummer and Frank Murray were talking backstage but leaving out the best part of the what seemed like a great gig from the band at there peek seems odd :? , with brilliant songs left out. Surely it would have been worth being released on a double disk I’d have paid the extra £4 or £5, but if anyone knows where I could get my hands on the gig PM me please.

Well VHS tapes in '88 were 60 minutes max I guess, so they had to cut some off.

The audio bootleg of T&C I've got is good, including all the songs on your list.

I don't think that's the reason, I got a official Concert VHS from 1985 from another band with a 90min show.

it would have been made to last 60 mins to easily fit into a TV slot.

STOP!!!!! Don't do it!
thoroughly examining their rules I've got a strong persuasion - it's a trap. They lure naive victims into tenacious embrace of UK! And use Pogues as a bait. Are they aware of it? I believe we - loyal fans and true friends - should warn...

Definitely. :) So the Ministry of Pogues Affairs issues a warning: By forcing innocent souls to become UK residents in order to be legible to enter, this nefarious competition may harm your national pride and cause irreparable damage to your self-identification. If obsessive dreaming about the DVD has a similar harmful effect on your health, better use old, well-tried methods to get it. No matter if it is a credit card or a picklock. ;)
