I'm reading Captain Bligh's A Voyage to the South Sea, his autobiographical account of the tale. I found it very interesting to note that they used the term blowing one's brains out in the late 1700s. I didn't know that it stretched back that far.
“An’ this is the last of Brummy,” he said, leaning on his spade and looking away over the tops of the ragged gums on the distant range.

The move is complete. A new tattered sheet is now being used for our sail.

Surprisingly the move went much more smoothly than I expected, and went more quickly than I had planned for. I'm also delighted to announce that the first posts in the fora came almost immediately after Gir was powered up - six spam posts for cigarettes in Russia.

Anyway - The DNS changes are slowly winding their way through the Internetwebs. This can happen in only a few minutes, or many many days. Some of our fellows of the raft may be missing for a few days while their DNS caches exhaust.

Yay!

All seems ok from my Mac on the East Coast.

Well done, DzM. I know what a pain moving a server is....

Still no connection through my ISP in South Dakota. I happen to be in South Carolina tonight and tried to pull up this site via remote to my desktop in South Dakota with out success.

DNS change propagation is a dark and vile art. It is unpredictable in its ways.

I didn't notice anything, but then I'm in England and was asleep during the move.

Then again, when I tried to get back on later at around 10pm last night, I kept getting the 'Cannot Find Server' message.

Maybe a few teething troubles?

DNS propagation takes time.

:)

Sadly (or maybe not?) I took Gir offline this evening for about four hours. I needed to do some upgrades and system maintenance, some of which has been put off for many, many years.

When Gir cam back online there were a few hiccups that caused a "stacking up" of users. The 730 number is more than a little misleading.
