Shilelagh Law - Christmas In New York

Post Wed Dec 05, 2007 11:01 pm

Absolutely cracking Christmas song written for the first Christmas after 9/11, quite touching.

Download: http://www.halfthebottle.com/free.htm "Christmas is here"

Lyrics:
There's snow in the air, winter is here.
The wind is blowing, the nights are so clear.
There's presents to wrap and cards to send.
It's Christmas in New York again.

There's somebody singing a holiday song.
You pick up the tune and start singing along.
You learned the words sometime way back when.
It's Christmas in New York again.

Fancy store windows and millions of lights.
Downtown in December, what a fabulous sight.
You spin round and round trying to take it all in.
It's Christmas in New York again.

As you gather round the table with everyone,
You feel that something has been left undone.
The tree is all trimmed, your shopping is through,
But there's one last thing you still have to do.

It's Christmas Eve, eleven PM.
You walk down to the church and you quietly go in.
Kneel down in the last pew, right on the aisle.
And say God I know that it's been a while.

But can you do me a favor on this Christmas Eve?
Can you send out some blessings to people for me?
You know these last few months have been kind of tough, and we could all use a little love.

So bless New York's finest, our angels in blue.
Giving us hope and helping us through.
And bless New York's bravest, the FDNY, giving their sweat and their tears and their lives.

And bless all the medics and our troops overseas,
And the guys in the hardhats removing debris.
Bless the everyday people who answered the call.
Bless those who gave some, and those who gave all.

And bless all the souls who left us this year.
You may be gone, but you'll always be here.
Singing and dancing with family and friends.
It's Christmas in New York again.

There's snow in the air, winter is here.
The wind is blowing, the nights are so clear.
There's presents to wrap and cards to send.
It's Christmas in New York again.

the lyrics you've posted do not match the song you linked to.

hopefully the song you think is so great actually is because the one you linked to was pretty meager.

I've edited your post to point to the free download page. From there interested users can bonk on the "Christmas is here" link.

In the future please do not direct-link to MP3 files on other servers. Direct linking can lead an inexperienced user to believe the file is hosted here. It's important that this impression not be given.

Why, what's the problem with them thinking that?

I don't owe you an explanation beyond what I've already given. Please simply respect this rule.

You don't owe me anything DzM, that's obvious enough not to require a mention.

If someone is stupid enough to think an MP3 linked from another website is hosted by Pogues.com, I doubt they'd posses the initiative to take you to a court of law over copyright infringement - and even if they got their helper or reading mentor to do it for them, it would get laughed out of court. Sleep easy big man.

sorry but it's doggerel.

"There's presents to wrap and cards to send.
It's Christmas in New York again. "

Even Cliff Richard would baulk at that line.
I'd shoot back great belly crippling buckets of beer

Being from Boston we usually hate everything NY, but I like this song. Esp the 9/11 influence.
