Accustomed as I am to voluntarily paying $120/£60 for theatre tickets vand considerably more for opera, and something of the same order for football, I don't feel the need to defend our ticket prices anyway.
How is this even a debate? The Pogues can decide to charge whatever the hell they feel like. It is their time and effort. If people do not want to pay it then they wont, simple as that. It's all about supply and demand, and if I was in their shoes I would definately be out to make as much money from this as possible. The fans are not going to volunteer to pay your mortgage for you are they? I pay £35 once a year to see this band play live. How could that ever be interpreted as alienating the 'working man'. hell even if they charged more I'd probably still consider it (don't take that as an invitation though).
BTW Philip - You're a Forest fan right? Do you honestly mean to tell me you pay in the region of £60 to watch that? Oh and make a note in your diary on January 12th. Beisty's coming to town, and last year we did you 3-1 (although you managed to counter that with a 1-3 at Brisbane Road).
