25 Years of Pogue Mahone

Just noticed the new logo. Is this an official one celebrating 25 years or is it made just for this page.

Is anything around here official?

A long time ago I promised I'd try to whack together some kind of logo to commemorate the 25th anniversary. Yesterday (Friday) I had to sit through many, many hours of conference calls explaining how a Reduction In Force (RIF, or "One in Ten of your colleagues got fired") at The Company (All Praise The Company) has strategically placed us onto Path Toward A Future Strategy Of Success, etc.

What else can one do in these meetings other than doodle around with PhotoShop?

Also - Happy 25th to Pogue Mahone. I believe the momentous date is Tuesday (if Zuzana's blurb on the front page can be believed).

Thursday - if The Lost Decade (which Zuzana used as source of info) can be believed. :)

Pff. So it is. I should actually look at stuff instead of relying on my flakey old guy memory. I swear I remember you (or someone) writing down "Oct 2."

Your flakey old guy memory serves you well. For some time, it was indeed "Oct 2" - a printer's gremlin in action. As soon as the little beast got caught and punished, the date changed to the correct (hopefully) Oct 4. Anyway, one day is surely not enough to celebrate the 25th anniversary, so why not start already on Tuesday? :)

It's been pointed out to me that users of MSIE 6 were seeing something that looked like powder-blue arse. I think I've got this fixed now, and users of MSIE 6 should now just be seeing something that looks like low-grade arse while the rest of us are seeing Teh Sexy Alpha-Channel Love of MSIE 7, Firefox, Mozilla, Opera, or Safari.

If anyone is still seeing a powder-blue background on the new graphic (here or on the front page), please let me know via email.

Thanks!

Shouldn't it be XVV? (Joke, save your schadenfreude, I've got a fantastic new Bruce Sprinsteen album to attempt to hear once more! Oh, Ireland, where records get released 3 days early!! Got the smart Dylan box as well :D ) Cool logo.

No no. That five years was just a period of "quiet contemplative reflection."

And thank you. It was this or something terrible with a "25" in some calligraphic "trash font" behind it. That looked way too 1989-and-I-have-a-computer-and-do-desktop-publishing. Will need to keep poking it with a stick until I become happy with it.
