Vote: Japan, Completely Pogued or Poguevision?

Post Sat Jul 02, 2005 12:15 am

I apologize for the delay, but I've had a PM with Kufen (God bless him) regarding his FTP. I have a few videos I'd like to upload, but obviously I can't upload them all at once, so I will ask for suggestions and Kufen(God bless him)'s approval all at once.

I know we have all probably seen these, it's no big deal, but here we go:

PogueVision: This is the Matt Roman DVD version, PogueVision Plus. Has the complete PV video, plus some extras. Quality ranges from VG to B(ad).

Completely Pogued: VG quality. Very vice documentary.

Japan: Not so good quality, but a great concert.

Kufen, it is ultimately your choice, but CP is about 647 MB, the other two are about 900 MB, Xvid. Let me know how I should proceed.

Thanks for the input...

Poguevision can still be purchased as a VHS.
Completely Pogued is in print as a bonus on a dvd.
So I would recomend the Live gig.

OK, Live in Japan it is. I'l get it uploaded sometime soon.

As for the Poguevision I have, it is really just a compilation of Pogues/Shane videos. I am pretty sure a number of them were transferred from the Poguevision VHS, but it also includes some Shane solo stuff, plus the "Perfect Day" video, (from the BBC release).

I can get together a track listing and post it on here if you like.

and, where/when is/was this available? It was hard enough finding the VHS years ago, and locally at that.

...european Region 2 and multi-region DVD players...

I thought, unlike VHS, that DVDs were all the same?

They are, but they're typically "region locked" to prevent DVDs from one area of the planet being played in another. In theory this allows the content producers to charge according to what the local economy will support without worrying that people will buy cheap DVDs and export/import to a more economically vibrant region.

Functionally this doesn't mean much any more. Many DVD players are now "region free" (meaning that these players ignore the region bit).

So, if I bought a good Sony DVD player, new, within the last two years...I shouldn't have anything to worry about?

Umm. Depends. Does it say "Region 1" on it somewhere, or does it say "Region Free"?

I'd bet money that a Sony player will enforce the region bit. Sony is, after all, the owner of a giant movie studio.
