Brian Kelly plays in the local pubs in Harrow is very good, I've seen him once or twice, and with the Popes and Shane On Paddys day, I rate him highly as for the rest of the band...well I wouldn't see them unless Shane was there, which is looking less and less likley all the time.

In support of the Popes solo i'll say this. Shane hasn't changed his frigging show since 1997 (except for the odd tune.) How many other people here are bored with the same old, predictacble, If I Should Fall - Dirty Old Town - Irish Rover set list?

Up until 1997 you'd get a different set list from Shane every year. This is what makes the Popes solo worth seeing, you get a whole new set list of rcoking irish music.

erm...No, what the point in seeing Shane MacGowan if he plays a set-list nones heard of before that rediculous. If he releases a new album yeah I'd understand but to re-shaped a set-list would be dumb, I'd agree he could do with adding some old pogues song that The Popes haven't played e.g.Meledy or something, White City. Or trad songs like the Wild Rover to boast. But to remove the songs you mentioned would have diaster written all over it.

I should have been clearer! No I'm not suggesting he play a set list noones heard of or he remove those songs ... What I meant is Shane's got a phenomenal back catalogue of 150-200 songs, and for years and years he has done nothing but play the same 25.

Of course keep five or ten of the indisputable Greatest Hits, but for the other ten songs how about ressurrecting ... Snake With Eyes Of Garnet, Boat Train, Lorca's Noveno, Waltzing Matilda, That Woman's Got Me Drinking, Summer In Siam, Rake At The Gates Of Hell, Victoria, Dark Streets Of London, (insert your favourite tracks here ..)

I guess those who don't often see his show won't be bothered by the same old setlist, and those who do go often are. I know lots people who rarely go to his gigs anymore for this reason. Even I've cut back, who hasn't?

 :? :(

I follow now sorry, in that case a 'freshen up lineup' we'll call it. I do agree, I've always wondered why he doesn't play 'White City' 'Dark The Streets Of London' or 'The Sunny Side Of The Street' not even The Pogues play the last to now. They are to classics 'Summer In Siam' is a stunning Song which are always over-looked.
