The Popes currently exist without MacGowan, but did they exist before MacGowan joined them or did he form the band?

That Mr MacGowan has a lovely voice... very much like Celine Dion...
Bono: "Every time I click my fingers a child dies."
Audience member: "Stop fucking doing it then!"

The popes were assembled by/for Shane. Mad Dog had been a Pogues roadie/guitar tech prior to his gig with the Popes, and i think the late Tom McManamon had worked in a similar capacity, as well as once filling in on bass. Also, he had been a duo with a later-to-be-a-Pogues James MacNally, Storm, that had opened for the Pogues a bunch.

Everybody got head-hunted!
