crock of gold

Post Tue Jun 21, 2005 11:02 am

 surely you all know crocks of gold are left by "the gentlemen, the little people, them", and it"s not wise to be always looking for there crocks of gold.,there was whaney the miller who was dreaming one night of a crock of gold hidden under his millstone, so before it was hardley light he began digging, and he dug and he kept on digging till the mill fell down on him, so if you are looking for crocks of gold beware just like the old folk say ...take care would you be like whaney the miller!.

I'm not really sure what this has to do with Shane MacGowan, aside from the title being the title of one of Shane's albums, but I found it amusing none the less. :P
“An’ this is the last of Brummy,” he said, leaning on his spade and looking away over the tops of the ragged gums on the distant range.

Why? Shane is a nice example of not-looking-for-the-crocks-of-gold. Can you imagine him with showel digging before it's hardly light? Ok, showels aside.. with mike? working at studio before it's hardly light?
God bless laziness it preserves our souls from graver sins

Sorry, it must be read "shovel" not "showel" (all that misspelling is infectious i am afraid).
(Showel - a cross between shovel and shower?)
