in Santa Marinella there is an immigrant detention center where Eugene Hutz has stayed a year or two, learnin' some Italian (there is "uno mille lire" which is the typical thing immigrants used to ask before euro came). the things that he learnt better are certainly curses to St.Mary, of which the song is stuffed (da uno, da due, da uno, da ***** *******).

Argh, what a dilemma... I'd love to see Gogol Bordello, but I've sworn to avoid watching Live Earth. Do I click that link or do I not?

Cheers, Eric. Anyone heard the new Gogol Bordello album yet? 8)

I checked this lot on out Amazon after reading all this and thought they were truly and absolutely awful. Just sounded like a load of old tuneless shite. Sorry - just couldn't get it? Now the King Blues rock ...

Thanks for the tip. It was a good show...Old Faithful and Gogol Bordello. Dave asked them if they had ever been to Wyoming. Hopefully they are now on their way.

You're welcome! I watched as well and really enjoyed the band's performance. You can listen to an entire archived live concert at the link I posted previously.

Gogol Bordello will be in Vancouver, BC on September 02 2007. The venue has been changed from Richards on Richards to The Commodore Ballroom, which is a much larger venue. Looks like ticket sales were good! Any Medusans want to have a preshow pint?

Coming to San Diego too but playing the House of Blues (bleh!), maybe I'll just have to go to Vancouver Steve!

Get on up here, then! The Commodore Ballroom is a great venue. It was closed in the late 90's for a couple of years, then renovated and upgraded in 1999. It's now run by HOB, and has been sanitized a bit, but even they can't hide the original character of this great room. The sprung dance floor is legendary. When The Pogues played there in 1995, Turkish Song of the Damned had the whole floor bouncing!
