Well, I saw them a few years ago at the Astoria expecting a geeky but interesting duo. I guess they used be somewhat cool but now they seem rather pathetic...

Well, I just purchased tickets to go see the Rush tour in St. Paul, MN. Rush was one of the first few bands I ever saw live. It was their Hemisphere's Tour in 1978 again in St. Paul.

I also was wondering if I was pathetic.

The main reason was I get to see a bunch of the "boys" who tend to gather every time Rush plays in the Twin Cities. Also, I decided it is good to revisit your youth every now and then.

John Henry is where I lost interest too.

The Lovely Mrs. DzM and I often buy their children's record for friends with kids though. Strangely we've never listened to it though.

This is really making me giggle...my Sweetheart LOVES Rush (how many girls do you know who are Rush fans?) and is going to see them with her mom later this month. I opted out, since I HATE Rush, and in fact I said that I am going to see TMBG in retaliation. Sort of "an eye for an eye, a geek for a geek."

I can not say that I know a single female Rush fan. A friend of mine here in SD loves them and convinced me to go to the cities in September to see them and our friends who gather for Rush shows. A couple of years back I was in Toronto on business and went to a Blue Jays game. I was in the front row and looked over and saw Geddy Lee in his usual spot behind home plate (he is a huge baseball fan) so I called my buddy and told him I was looking at Geddy as we spoke. He freaked and said I had to go talk to him so I went and sat a couple of rows behind him and during the seventh inning stretch I said hello and had him sign my ticket to make my buddy jealous. There was a sweet old couple who I spoke with who have season tickets right behind Geddy and when I told them about my friend who was the Rush fanatic they said I could send something and they would have Geddy sign it. So I sent 2 baseballs and sure enough about a month later they came back signed by Geddy. I gave one to my buddy and kept one for posterity. Personally I would rather have the beer tray that Spider tossed to my brother when we saw the Pogues last year in Boston. However, my buddy was thrilled as he is such a big fan. He will see them at least 6 times on this tour and has connections for "meet and greets" after the shows in some cities. I am going for the party...

Great story Clash
Man, where do I begin with Rush. First off, they are playing here Saturday night. Had to pass.
I've seen them probably 10 times, most recently about 12 years ago.
They were quite the band back in their heyday. First saw them in about '76 when New York shows usually featured 3 bands. Blue Oyster Cult were the headliners, opened by Rush, who were preceded by a little-known band out of Australia named AC/DC.
These were the days where every concert featured the mandatory drum solo.....no one was, or will ever be better than Neil Peart.
And Geddy Lee still gets the thumbs up from me. Although the voice is an acquired taste, he always impressed me...playing bass, singing lead, Taurus bass pedals, keyboards simultaneously.

Haven't heard their new release, but it's the same 3 piece outfit still pumping out music and selling out shows after all these years.

I just got back from a business trip to Mexico and found a message from my friend "Dready" in Denver, CO that as a father's day gift he purchased tickets for my wife and I to see

If we all liked the same stuff how boring would that be.
