I will be in San Fran come hell or high water!
True story,
Seeing the Pogues for me is like an annual rejuvination and and revitalizaton. I went to Boston in March and saw the boys once again. My brother came down and met up with my wife and I and we had a fantastic time. That was the night that Shane tripped and hurt his knee. It was such a great time away from work and stres. And seeing the pogues is a vacation in itself.
The weather in boston was 75 degrees. Spent the last day of the trip down on the harbour soaking up the sun. Flew home to Toronto at 4:00 PM.
I got back to my apartment at about 8:00 PM. The message light on the phone was flashing. Well that made sense as I had been away for 4 days. I decided to check the callers list before listening to messages. I really wanted to go out and buy some Pho Soup and then relax for the nigth after traveling.
The last 5 callers all rang in the last 2 hours and they were all from my family. I thought this was strange as they all knew I was in Boston seeing the pogues. I knew it couldn't be good knews.
Sure enough as I am checking my messages call waiting beeps in. Its my brother. My dad was killed at 2:00 that afternoon in a car crash in dense fog. I felt like I had hit a brick wall.
Needless to say a lot of my good memories from the trip flew out of my mind. The next days and weeks were consumed with grief and dealing with the family.
Time has passed...and I want more happy times with the Pogues.
I'll be there, in the fall, to see old friends, and build new memories!
Cheers guys.
