pogues tattoo

Post Fri May 27, 2005 12:16 pm

Im getting the rest of my UPPER back (Dont want lower back work just too girls gone wild IMO) done and it ends up Im getting it done with alot of pogues quotes its going to be mainly victorian either way a cemetary with some hidden type headstones and a large section of "Lullaby of London" and some small quotes from other song. Not much seeing as I am a small girl and already have some back work done. Any ideas? Would like to see any other Pogue tattoos. Didnt plan this to be Pogue based but it worked its way out. my back so far:

sadly i have no recommendations. i can say that i like where it is. and where it is going. and i fully commend the choice not to go with the lower back. as 98% of every girl i've ever seen has one there. something "tribal" or dismally comfortably rebellious.

i can say i'm getting the snake...wrapped around the egg. from the booklet of "The Snake" on my right fore-arm. i have 2 tattoos, now. will be getting 3 more before i get the snake, though.

i guess....keep up the good work?

Youve already got the start of a good tat there. Some gravestones ?..Just some writing like "May they all sleep tight down in hell tonight ,
or wherever they may be "would be good.Or are you thinking of having small writing on the stones?

rum blah and the blah... the album cover would not only be pricey...time consuming and expensive.... it would also be overwhelmingly amazing.

I was definately going to get most of the words from "Lullabye of London: done but hidden in vines. I have thought of getting the band from of rake at the gates of hell cover. Im going with headstones and already decided to do small phrases but am using "May they all sleep tight down in hell tonight , or wherever they may be" as a big part." I know it wont be "feminine" but its me. I hav two other tats both on my shoulders, wil post later. I like old traditional stuff. Sorry photos are unclear. Any new ideas are welcome!!! I may go edward gorey style for back i have a good artist and excuse my editing. Im at my family farm in the middle of no where on dial up long distance answering emails and killing boredom with drinking

mine.... there's a tom waits song that mentions a carnival lady who had a "tattoo gun made from a cassette motor, and a guitar string.... and she drew a rickety heart and a bent arrow...and it hurt like hell"

so, i got a tattoo of a rickety heart and a bent arrow. made to look like it was done in someone's back yard... by flashlight, or something. (which it wasn't...it was professionally done.) and it has the stereotypical banner. but i left the banner blank. no one. if anyone cares enough to request their name in it..i can write it in with a marker and wash it off at my discretion...

Image

as for other ideas... i spent some time with this....

1. a map of the United states. with an X through all of the ones i've visted.
2 .blank tic tack toe board (same idea as the heart) use with friend and marker anytime
3. the word "HAHA" because... it's funny. very plain lettering.
4. "if found...please return to (your address or something)
5. miltary rank.... the stripes. on your arm.
6. all of the body parts from the game "Operation" in their respective places.
7. "mardi gras '84" (as if to say you got it, heavily intoxicated) though you weren't really there.
8. on top of thigh, so i can read it. "first pants THEN shoes"
9. "food goes in here" on stomach
10. medals on chest (courage...blah blah)
11. a confused/scared cute little kitty.... wandering through another one of your tattoos.
12. train tracks snaking over and under your body.

i wanted to get a autiobiographical one next. a huge question mark. with a scene behind it... a scene representing me. stars, change, cigarette butts. a trumpet. a bottle. a watch. all scattered in this scene.....behind the question mark. have it be raining... a crow flying through the background.
shutup..i like it

also, the tom waits album "swordfishtrombone" actually draw a swordfish and a trombone molded. get that done.

<img src=http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46/belleoftheblog/straighttohell.bmp> Heres the Straight to Hell cover I am talking about getting aboit, it is very "Dia De Los Muertos" a big part of the culture down here; IMO. sorry ive been on a 7 hr drive im tired but finally home from the farm. Here is one of my other tats, an anchor with sword thru my heart and blood drops and sort of wings but not really. I like it alot, its one of my favorites, out of my three.
Image it now also has an old style banner that says "Per Ardua Ad Astra" which means "thru struggles to stars" or however the RAF interprets it. I understand this is not actually interpretable (sp?) Probably weird for a girl from Texas, but it was better sounding then NASA's similar saying.

I have one tribal on my right calf already and I was thinking that I might as well get some ink on the other one too. I´m currently working on an idea about a football (soccer) and something Pogues related, all "hidden" in a tribal. I just don´t want any writing etc. on it so I think that a shamrock would symbolise the Pogues well enough. Any ideas for other symbols for the Pogues?
