Shane MacGowan's Home

Post Mon May 14, 2007 5:38 pm

My wife and I will be spending 11 days in the Emerald Isle in June.

I thought it would be pretty awesome to maybe see from a distance where Mr. MacGowan spends his time. I know he says in the documentary he lives in Tipperary. Does anyone know what pubs/bars he frequents? Just wondering. I dont want to bother him or anything. Im sure he gets enough of that already.

Either way Im very pumped whether I do or do not get to follow in Mr. MacGowans Footsteps.

My wife and I are headed over in late August and I've planned a stop at Philly Ryan's pub in Nenagh, one of Shane's favorite pubs, for a cold one. I think he lives up the road in Ardcroney. Won't go lookin for him but if he shows up would be nice to say hello.

After a time, it will turn into stalking, whether you like it or not.

It's a little hard to stalk someone when you live on two separate continents. I want to visit Philly Ryan's only because I've heard so much about it and will be in the neighborhood. It's the same reason I've visited Windmill Lane Studios, Leo's Tavern, Hughes Bar, O'Donoghues, and other musical landmarks related to the music I love.

Hard, yes. Impossible, no. I'm still unable to go within 200 yards of Al Pacino.
