STRANGE SOUNDTRACK FROM POGUES WHICH DISSAPEARS....

Post Fri Apr 06, 2007 9:55 am

Hello, years ago i went to the cinema to see that film from HARRISON FORD about the I.R.A,i do not remember the name of the film, in one scene he came in to a bar to interview with samebody from the i.r.a, and the music which sounds in the bar was from POGUES, i was shock in the cinema and enjoy it very much!!, when the film finished, i wait to the end of the credits and i saw pogues name on it, i was the last person who went out from the cinema.

After that i bought the film in video, and "THE SONG WAS NO THERE, THERE WAS ANOTHER SONG OF OTHER GROUP INSTEAD OF THE POGUES AND THEY NOT APPEAR IN THE CREDITS", for me it was incredible. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED???
DOES ANYONE KNOW THAT BEFORE I TOLD???

THANKS
Aitor

I presume the movie you refer to is Blown Away, which I've never actually watched. I did not know we are not on the video version, but I'm pretty sure we're still on the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack album.

I suppose there was an issue about rights or some such legal palaver.

Are you sure you are not referring to The Devil's Own? This movie starred Harrison Ford as a NYC cop and Brad Pitt as an IRA man. I don't think Harrison Ford was in Blown Away.

I saw The Devil's Own on DVD some years back and I think there was a Pogues song on it at some point, possibly playing on a jukebox in a bar scene.

The Devil's Own was partially filmed in the neighborhood where I grew up. The neighborhood is Inwood in the northern tip of Manhattan. There is a scene in the movie where Ford's character chases a teen through the streets after seeing the kid steal something from a shop. That chase scene showed a park with a stone wall where I used to sit and drink beer as a teenager. There is a another exterior shot of a bar that is across the street from my church. The name of the bar was changed for the movie and I can't remember the real name or the movie name at present.

I think that it was blown away, but think that here in Spain thy change the titles to the films, and put another ones completely different or even a bad translations, i will look for it and tell it here.

You say that in the video its appears, but perphaps they eliminated that song for the video in spain and television, who knows..

Tuesday Morning was on the Blown Away soundtrack. Blown Away was filmed in Boston and starred Tommy Lee Jones as an escaped IRA bomber.
Jeff Bridges and Forest Whitaker were Boston Bomb Squard cops. Lloyd
Bridges also starred. My dad also played a major role in the wedding
scene as an extra doing an Irish Set Dance :D . He got to hang out with Jeff and Lloyd Bridges. He said Forest Whitaker really enjoyed the whole Irish crew at the wedding scene (the wedding band was led by Larry Reynolds, who is well known in the Boston area for his seisuns). Suzy Amis, the female lead was a bitch.

My dad is pretty proud of the fact he will live forever in the movies, considering growing up in Ballaghaderreen Roscommon the only
"media" source he had was a radio with the wet batteries.

Actually I think the film you're referring to is Patriot Games, there was a scene in a bar with Ford and Richard Harris who portrayed an IRA figure.

I´m quite sure The Minstrel Boy is played in the background in a bar scene from one of these films but I don´t remember which one.

I think the film you are looking for is the fugitive it stars harrison ford as an innocent convict who is trying to prove his innocence and jumps off a waterfall.

I'm pretty sure the film he's referring to is Star Wars, where Harrison Ford had a role as a space pirate, There's a scene in the intergalactic bar where the creatures play a few bars from "Sea Shanty" right before the lead singer mumbles something virtually unintelligable and then laughs a raspy laugh.

I think this scene is only in the director's cut.
