The thought's much appreciated, barney, but I wouldn't want anyone to be changing their plans on my account. As explained, so far it's looking unlikely that I'll get there early enough for a proper pre-gig meet.

There's a list of nearby pubs here:

Does anywhere sound better than the Canterbury? The SW9 looks wheelchair accessible but it says it's not cheap.

Hello, thanks for posting up our guide to pubs around The Academy. Canterbury Arms is by far the cheapest (with the excception of The Beehive on Brixton Road). It's a traditional old Irish pub with great Victorian decor and it may be flattened for property developers in the new year so I'd highly recommend a few jars in there before if you're going to the gig.
Cheers

Our website tells us where people have linked from.
Saw The Pogues forum so thought I'd have a look at what people were saying. Will be at this gig ourselves. Can't wait! :D

Is anyone interested in going to the Marquis of Lorne? On Thursday Calum Bruce the author of the new book on being a Pogues fan is going to be there selling copies of the book:

THURSDAY, 19th DECEMBER
THE MARQUIS OF LORNE
49, DALYELL ROAD,
BRIXTON, LONDON SW9 9SB
(5.45 - 6.45pm)

It's beautiful pub, a little farther, but still only about a 5-minute walk according to google maps:

That is OK if you are walking down from Stockwell. I like The Duke of Edinburgh on Ferndale Rd, and Trinity Arms as well. Always found The Canterbury a bit rubbish to be honest! Turn left out of Brixton tube, left again there are a couple of pubs The Prince Albert and Dogstar on Coldharbour Lane.

Thanks for the directions out of Brixton tube. :) I'll probably stop in for a moment at each of these you've mentioned.

Which of the old crowd are around for this then? I don't know if I'll have a ticket but I'll try and make it down to say hello to some old friends and possibly some new ones!
