I'll start -- me, and friend Tom (probably in kilt)

I'm headed to DC for the first time, for the show on the 9th. Any hints on a good place for before/after the show??? Any ideas on if the Gentlemen hang out at certain place after they're done performing?

Thanks, cya on the 9th!

Medusa newbie.

The easiest place to drink before the show is Duffy's, which is across the street from the 9:30. A block south is the far end of the U Street corridor, which has a bunch of jazz clubs and various bars.

I'll be at Lucky Bar earlier in the day to watch the Barcelona-Arsenal match, but would be happy to join a meet-up near the club later.

I will be there with my wife and a couple of neighbors. Anyone know how the Shamrock and Star is? Nelly's, a block from the 9:30 Club is our usual stop before concerts. It is a great bar (the best gay sports bar I know in fact) with very good food, but I think an Irish bar is appropriate for this show. I assume Duffy's will be slammed so figured I would ask about the Shamrock & Star. An Irish bar/Jewish deli is kind of a cool idea, no?

I'll be there on my own. Although I do know a few others who are going.
not sure I'll be able to get over for a meetup beforehand. if anything a quick pint at Duffy's.

a few of us went there pre Pogues gig a couple years back and while it was crowded, there was no trouble getting a round rather quickly!! However, a sit down meal probably wouldn't be best there unless you arrive well early.

my biggest issue will be arriving at the club early enough to get a spot to see. at 5'2 I usually end up behind someone taller than me!

What is the consensus on The Pogues start time these days? I have not seen them in DC yet (my home turf) so was always easily in the vicinity to go early since I was kind of on business travel (cough*boondoggle) in NYC and Baltimore. Today since I will be commuting in after the sitter's arrival, I am getting nervous about being late. I am hoping to be in the neighborhood around 6:30.

These days you can never be sure. Friends of mine saw Van Halen a few years ago and made the normal rock concert assumptions about start time so got dinner and drinks and then walked in the VZ Center @ 9:00 assuming they were plenty early. Well the concert was halfway over because it started promptly at 8:00. It sucks getting old.

I'll be honest, I didn't know that Shamrock and Star existed until just now. What a concept. Unfortunately it's a bit far from the 9:30. I'll be in Duffy's pre-show, wearing a Georgetown sweatshirt if anyone fancies a pint beforehand.

9:30 is usually pretty good about following times, which means, according to Philip: doors 7, Titus Adronicus 8, Pogues 9:30. Last night the opening act was on about 10 minutes late and played long, but the changeover was very quick and the Pogues were on time.

9:30 has set times up:
7pm Doors
8pm Titus Andronicus
9:15pm The Pogues

I'm going to do my best to get over there as early as possible but have a bit of running about to do after work & before I can cross the river!
I'll be wearing a blue plaid top!

I post the most up to date show times. They change for all sorts of reasons and those advised by the venue may sometimes be hopelessly out of date.
