The line of succession only applies to situations where individual A is unavailable, so individual B assumes the mantle. If individual B is unavailable, the individual C takes the mantle, etc.

Our current situation would play out like this:

Trump goes away, Pence gets sworn in as #46.
It is (nearly) his first act to identify a new VP.
The House and Senate have to approve of the new VP choice. If both approve then the new VP is sworn in.
Pelosi remains in the third place in the line of succession.

Fun politics to consider:
As long as there is no sworn-in VP then Pelosi is, effectively, second-in-line for the presidency. Thus, the House Democrats have a strong politics reason not to approve of any nominee. Likewise, the Senate has a strong politics reason not to approve any nominee that is so liberal that the House would approve him/her (since, as noted, any nominee that would be acceptable to Pence and the Republicans would very likely not be as acceptable to the Democrats as Pelosi).

All of which is to say - it's very possible if impeachment and conviction happen (a first in American history) that we descend into a true constitutional crisis. Good times.

With Trump doing Pence no favors (at this juncture) there is a slim chance that they could both go away.

Pelosi becomes President, culls a VP and Trump... with his open contempt for female: politicians, journalists, environmentalists, athletes, television hosts and twitter using models cakewalks the first female President into office. :)

Watching these people go on television (or twitter) and incriminate themselves is freaking bewildering.

You raise a good point there. What make it implausible is that something is lurking in the closet that is so terrible that the Senate could be convinced to remove not just #45 but also #46 (or VP of #45, and then #45 himself). It's possible that they could find their way to removing one, but both? And at the cost that the much-hated Speaker Pelosi then takes on the mantle of POTUS? There's no way the majority party in the Senate will let this happen. Ever. #45 and VP could be found together making a Devil's Triangle with a dead child in Lincoln's bed and this Senate would find a way to keep at least one of them in the POTUS seat.

Oh, for fuck's sake.

USofA: We need a colation to help fight this shithead. Please, help us! We'll have your back!
Kurds: OK!
[time passes; fighting happens]
Kurds: OK, USofA, please return the favor by making sure Turkey doesn't massacre us.
USofA: LOLS. No way.

I think we can officially wave goodbye to the time in history when factions/countries/peoples would ally with us because they though they'd get some kind of awesomeness in return. Yes, Pres. Trump is really improving the standing and respect that the USofA has across the world. WINNING!

I read his asinine tweet and thought, this has to be a hacker... nobody is that vile.
Yeah, he is.
Such diplomacy.

What a pig.

Oh don't worry, POTUS himself said

"As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!). They must, with Europe and others, watch over..."

VERY STABLE genius right there.

Utterly vile excuse for a man..I still shake my head in disbelief that USA elected this shithouse.
I see that after Barr's meeting with Murdoch, Shep Smith has left Fox 'news'...nothing alarming there at all.
I wasn't born to be somebody's kicking post, I wasn't born to be...

The worst part is that they'd gladly do it again.

They wanna wear their red caps and red shirts and scream USA!, USA!, USA! while pounding on their chests.

You cannot fix stupid.
