We'll be fine, only b/c Mrs. Me happens to be starting a new better paying job the following week, and I'll get 55% on Employment Insurance. But I feel for those who won't be fine.

DzM wrote:I'm happy to see rich people and corporations stepping up to provide PPE in this time of need. I'm disgusted, though, that at this time of need that we're relying on rich people and charity to acquire PPE and determine where to send it, and that these people and corporations are being able to acquire them.
Why the fuck is Robert Kraft even able to purchase 300,000 masks right now? Why isn't FEMA and CDC working together to determine where most need is and shipping PPE to those locations? Why are hospitals and a centralized response having to compete against Robert Kraft to acquire masks?
That Kraft can buy these masks; that Ryan Reynolds can acquire PPE and send it to hospitals in new York; that Amazon has chosen to halt sales of N95 masks to the public and make them available only to the health care workers - these are all great things but they truly expose the rot at the core of the system. That these people and corporations are doing these things is great; that the system is DEPENDING on them to do it shows that the system is broken as fuck.
