Really? Bill Clinton got Lindsay Buckingham back into Fleetwood Mac for HIS inaugeration, Trump couldn't even get a Springsteen cover band & a full set of Rockettes.

Surprised that Ted Nugent isn't playing, probably wouldn't work for Trump's low wages!

Pff. Of course not. That would be silly.

Anyone that comes on here preaching the wonders of Trump deserves all the pushback they get. Fuck him, fuck them and curse the idiots ignorant enough to vote him in, because they plan to do myself and my loved ones no favors.

Let's be real.

Push back? Sure. Have fun. Challenge and push back all you want. Ad hominem attacks? I guarantee that these aren't nearly as effective as you might think and do nothing to help, protect, or undo bad policy and prejudice that affects you and your loved ones.

Regardless - I don't have the patience to deal with people determined to get into personal attacks. So as I said before: "Everyone be friendly, k?"

I suppose that some post-election frustration might still - understandably - be around. From an external point of view it really looked like a Civil War was going on, except for the number of casualties obviously. And when you lose that, you're not happy at all, I guess.

Edit: yes, I know what you're saying DzM, not trying to question that. 8)

For example, don't make jokes about shootings, even "homeschool shootings", no matter how funny a line that is!

Counterpoint: One of my little girls has two Syrian refugees in her class (a boy and a girl). Everyone takes care of them and tries their best to help them learn and play even though they don't speak much English. The other day she came home telling me how impressed she was with Ari (the boy) because he is the best jump-roper in the playground; he can do a hundred double jumps in a row, whatever that is. But then I think that poor Ari has seen so much in his short life, and I really hope he is in a place where he feels like he can be safe and comfortable and welcome. And then I remember that Trump wants to take this poor kid and send him gawd knows where, for no good reason at all. And I think, okay calm down I know not all Trump voters are vile bigots. But then I wonder why they voted for a vile bigot?

It's only a partial answer, but the fact of the matter is it was Hillary's election to lose, and she lost it. And while all the blame is not specifically hers (although some sure is), the fact is that her generation of Democrat - while doing good things on race and identity politics - have made their careers moving away from the working class and towards big banks and big business. And as much as we all know that is true, the point is it is REALLY true. In fact, there's a great article somewhere about how the "new" democrats of the 60/70s literally ran out the Dems old-guard anti-big business/big bank leader. And while he was run off for being on the wrong side of the segregation debate, he was replaced by folks who literally owned banks.

While the Repubs have not been the party of the working class in probably quite sometime themselves, Trump was at least willing to PRETEND that he was, and when he painted Hillary as a servant of Goldman Sachs, it was more or less an accurate picture (er, at least until he won, and appointed 5 - five! - former Goldman Sachs employees to his inner circle).

You are always so fucking condescending. Good for you.

The "k?" part is the cherry on top of assholism.

Nobody was really mixing it up when you stepped in and at this rate anybody saying anything on this site is a plus.

Whatever.

You've reminded me of a moment, months ago, discussing maybe a song or movie or TV show, i was explaining to my daughter about the shared cultural experience of growing up at the tail end of the Cold War, with still the threat of possible planetary nuclear annihilation hanging over us all, made for some collective anxiety as a child. She responded, "Hey, MY generation is facing the prospect of a Trump presidency!"

That's when it became real for me.
