What the story neglected to point out is that a number of people like myself are disappointed with Obama not for his plan but for the way that he is letting the Republicans fuck up the opportunity for real reform in this country.
On a side note. I am currently reading David McCullough's book on John Adams and found it very interesting to learn of a contentious issue Americans faced during George Washington's term, namely the unrest regarding the Jay Treaty with Great Britain. Republicans took to the streets to denounce a President who was revered by the majority of Americans. Sound familiar?
With my previously non working link repaired you can see the numbers.
Please, when looking back on this after the Dems lose their majority seats this fall and many life long scoundrels like Chris Dodd get set home finally......
Remember the Dems had a free ride, a home run, a layup as they say in basketball,
no need for any Republican to vote yah and they could (and have) pass what ever they want. So please don't turn this around on the republicans hell they have their own confusion. There isn't even a spokes person for the Repubs. So just admit the Dems screwed their own master plan and move on with it. You can not pin this on the GOP.
The second issue, every president is revered by many Americans, that's how they get elected. (here come the GWB basher) It's what happens after the facade comes down and you have to stop talking and start acting that the polish starts to dull.
On John Adams, I've heard the book is excellent. I unfortunately only saw the mini-series with Paul Giamatti which I thought was good but it was awhile back. Don't remember that part. After some fairly heavy reading I took some time to lighten things up by reading former WWE wrestler Mick Foley's paperback "Foley is Good". Everyonce in a while you need a escape book into some other realm, this definately does that. I will definately put J A on my list though, thanks Caddy.
