It was a strange Ashes series. None of the tests were very close. I guess 3-2 was about right.

Essex ending the season in some disarray, with coach departed "by mutual consent".

Seems to be a bit of a slow end to the season, winners of the championships have been more or less in situ from the start so not much more to say really. Glamorgan appear to have found two new players, proper Welsh cricketers David Lloyd and Dewi Penrhyn Jones, who have been found ar Brymbo Cricket Club Wrexham, so there is some hope for the future. Days to go now before its rugby and football Wales may even qualify for the European Championship (he said hopefully!)

Season has already started and true to form Glamorgan were well beaten, not a good start for new club manager, and Glamorgan legend Robert Croft.

Lancs may be a bit of a surprise package in our return to the big league. Even without our international call ups, we have some handy lads!

So after the first few rounds, Essex find themselves on top of Div 2. Though they've played one more match than everyone else, and they've, unusually, had the services of the England captain for the first few games, so it probably won't last!

Really don't think Essex's success will last. Ali Cook's scored a tone of runs for them, but is about to go back to the E(&W)CB now...

Great batting collapse by Glamorgan yesterday, I think Glamorgan's failure will continue!!

Sorry about Glam. We all get these ups and downs. For Essex it's been mostly downs over the last few years. Change of coach this winter may just have perked them up a bit.

For the last few seasons, much of the more vocal Essex membership (especially on the message board!) have been complaining that Essex have focused on T20 at the expense of the 4-day game. So far this season they've done ok in the CC, but after last night's pretty poor first T20 match of the season, some of them are of course complaining...

Personally, I'd be quite happy with them having a terrible T20 year if they do well in the CC.

So Essex are playing Glam at the moment, match started yesterday. From the scoreboard, looks pretty even after the first day.

Yes Essex are playing very well and by today well on top! Essex are not my second county today...unsurprisingly!
Looks a good game FH.

Well, with one day to go it's looking as if Glam are in a good position to get their first CC win of the season...

Yes it looks like today could be a good day to watch the cricket, although the weather is a bit overcast. We may well get a result, rather than a draw.
