At least when the rain's persistent enough Essex aren't losing to anyone. They're going from bad to worse this season.

Sad news about Tom Maynard, our sympathy to his family and friends. He had a very brightt future in cricket.

Desperately sad news. All the more shocking given the way it seems to have happened. RIP.

Fed up with it. Might as well have the rugby season now. Essex are rubbish anyway.

Mind you, a 4-0 series win over Australia is not something to forget!

Aye, looks like a good win for Glam against Northants, well done indeed.

Glam are the visitors at Essex's Colchester festival next month. All being well I should be there for at least one day of the match.

Cheers, Aled. Things may be looking up for Glam, let's hope so. Essex are truly terrible this year. Another crushing defeat to Middlesex last night. Somehow they've sneaked into the T20 QFs, but with an away tie at Somerset they won't get any further.

Most of us have written off this season already, and the membership is deeply unhappy. Still might get a couple of days in the sun though. And Castle Park Colchester is a lovely place to watch cricket, assuming it's dried out by then.

But hey, there's a test series against SA starting today. Should be interesting...

So no chance of the weather saving the E&WCB XI this time...

Poor old Essex were desperately close to their first CC win since the opening game of the season yesterday. Amazing run chase against Hampshire led by the young replacement wicketkeeper until he saw a glimpse of glory and holed out in the deep trying to finish it with a six, which would have won the game and brought up his 100. Out for 98, lost the match by two runs... So sad!

Poor sod, lack of experience perhaps???
Our counties seem to be doing a good job of proping up the bottom of the CC tables...........
