Ravenhill, 24th August 2007

Post Mon Aug 27, 2007 10:40 pm

anybody recognising this sideburned lad standing in Ravenhill with an "Italia 90" scarf wrung around his neck at a rugby match?

Image

I was on the BBC twice, once singin' the anthem (don't know which one, yet. I sang both, and some say I was singin' the Italian one, some say it was Ireland's Call) and once right after Troncon's try.

Not much of a Rugby man, but I'm watching some live Aussie rugby on Setanta, Rabbitohs v Roosters. Seems okay, especially as one of the Rooster players just landed a right hook on the chin of a Rabbitohs player.

Love a fight on the telly on Saturday morning.

Good news indeed. I reckon there'd be a lot to be said for him playing in one of the first two games (against Namibia and Georgia), to make sure he's match fit, rather than bringing him straight in for the crucial game against France. But I'd be surprised if he played in both the first two.

England's Jonny Wilkinson, meanwhile, is injured and will miss the first game. Now there's a big surprise.

Yeah that is true, give him a run out before the crucial France game.

In what O'Sullivan says is the "strongest available side" to play in the game against Namibia.

Epi Taione, of Tonga, has decided to legally change his name in Paddy Power for sponsorship reasons.

And I hear that Jonny Wilkinson is changing his name to Band Aid for the same reason.

Should be NZ, but history says they'll blow it. Maybe after eating a dodgy bouillabaisse. History may be bunk, of course.

My tip would be France.

New Zealand. I think I'd agree with whichever pundit said that northern hemisphere teams have got no chance of winning it.
