Yeah, Larder's observations on the role of flanker didn't seem to fit the game, perhaps.

And yes, I don't think Farrell + Tindall is the best combination. :)

Yeah, I think that Farrell & Tindal are to alike to play together. There has to be somone who will make the decisions rather than just trying to blast through each time. It might be ok against the weaker teams but the top teams will just wrap them up.

Who else is there is the big question?

Well, Matthew Tait is certainly quicker, but hasn't really had the chance to prove himself at international level yet. Of course, there's been talk of moving Wilkinson to centre for a while...

Well I would have said ye can have Girvan Dempsey........but it appears he is now the best Full Back in Europe so we can't afford to lose him

Wonder if Ashton is thinking of playing Mike Catt at centre. Catt's a good player, if not exactly one for the future. And he talks as much as Farrell does. :)

What a wanker. Bud, can you remember what paper it was in? I'd like to try to track the pic down.

Pretty Sure it was in The Irish Independent. I should be able to get hold of it on e-mail. I had it during the week but I think I deleted it.

Catt's playing really well this season too. Though I'm not sure about Catt and Farrell together. It'd be a bit deafening, to say the least.

From the reports of the state of health of the England players after the weekend's game, I'm half-expecting to be called up for the squad.

One day they may sort out this whole club/country thing. One day.

Dear Mr Firehazard

Please report to Twickenham on Saturday morning with your boots and kit in the back of the car. You may choose your own position.

Yours sincerely

Brian Ashton

Congrats on the callup FireHazard. Pity you missed the Croke Park event......

What position do you think you will pick? I would have gone for first centre in my youth, now I'd be to slow to even play prop (Though I'd be ok for weight  )

I think I should be a flanker. Because that's what someone called me the other day. At least, I think that's what I heard them say...

And the wheel of misfortune spins, then stops, and in fact Mike Catt is the new England captain. Robinson back, Flood at outside-half, Geraghty on the bench, Corry playing as a lock (has he ever played there before?).

Vickery, Wilkinson, Farrell all out injured.

Martin Corry in the second Row......Are there NO locks in England...Although he has to be better than Grewcock (at least Corry has a brain)

I see they have picked their 6 nations XV on the website as well........No Welsh, Scots Or English make the team at this stage. Probably about right. I would agree with the team they have picked.....so far.

That's so weird. Like I said, I've no idea if he has any history of playing there.

Catt's been playing well for London Irish, and could turn out to be an inspired choice as captain. Or maybe not. And then again, bringing in a captain from completely outside the previous team doesn't show a lot of confidence in the rest of 'em.

If Ashton pulls off a result against France, especially in the circumstances, he'll have done incredibly well. But looking at that XV, if they can beat France, well then je vais manger mon chapeau.

That's not a bad Six Nations XV, and I wouldn't disagree with it very far. Sure you wouldn't want Dempsey at full-back, Bud?
